Our farm has been in the family for over 50 years. My Cherokee grandmother purchased the farm with the intention of giving each of her children property. We have been raising bison here since 2008. We chose the name Cherokee Valley to honor my heritage and the gift of this farm by my grandmother and mother. We created this tipi experience to share that gift with you! Enjoy a night in our spacious 22 foot tipi. We provide a comfortable queen platform bed for your convenience. You must provide sleeping bags, linens , blankets etc. The tipi can sleep up to 6 people, 2 on the queen bed we provide, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses that you provide. We have cots available to rent as an add on. . You may also pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the trees with room for up to 10 people in all. Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working bison farm with bison, honeybees, chickens and peafowl. We are a certified Wildlife Habitat and Monarch Way Station. Enjoy our beautiful hiking trails through the rolling hills of our ranch. We have a plethora of bird species, butterflies and wildflowers to delight nature lovers. After hiking the trails you can splash around in the pristine creek that borders our property (we recommend water shoes). Take in a gorgeous sunset over our farm, enjoy a wood fired dinner cooked over the provided fire pit with grill. The sounds of hoot owls will lull you to sleep and when you wake, enjoy the stained glass glow through the beautiful tipi. We are close to several wineries, breweries and recreational areas (kayaking, canoeing, golfing, biking) as well as Legend Valley concert venue. We are a short drive to Buckeye Lake, Dillion Dam, and Hocking Hills. We have a selection of grass fed bison available in our on-site farm store.

Bison Tipi Retreat
Camping with Bison & nature.
Ever since I visited Cherokee Bison ranch, and learned that they had tee pees, I was all in! This is something that I have always wanted to try. Carie & Jarrod were so accommodating. They went above and beyond. The Bison, grounds & tee pees were so majestic. I definitely can't wait to do this again in the spring!! I highly recommend wholeheartedly!

Great stay!
Carie was wonderful and stayed up late to meet us as we road-tripped across the US. The tipi has been our best camping experience thus far, and she had everything that we could have wanted! (dishwashing station, history of tipis, firewood available for purchase, etc)

Rainy stay
We were super excited about our tipi stay on Carie’s property, but the weather took a turn for the worst the weekend we had booked. It had already been raining a few days, quite heavy, from the Hurricane Helene after math and we intended to make the most of it and hope the rain stayed to a drizzle. Carrie greeted us on arrival and was super friendly and informative and we went to our campsite and set up for the night. Carrie had mentioned having a tarp on the bed because of all the rain, but it was quite saturated when we showed up. We hoped that was from the heavy rainfall the day before and removed the tarp and put our bedding on and went on a hike around the property and off to dinner. The rain kept up during this time and when we returned from dinner our bed was wet and water was still dripping in to the point that we just packed up and went on home. The tipi had a rain catcher, I’m not sure if it just couldn’t keep up with the amount, or something had obstructed it from operating properly. I mentioned to Carrie the next day that we ended up leaving early and she offered and gave us a complete refund. She said she cares about happy guests and that wasn’t the experience anyone wanted. That just speaks to the kind of host she is! We can’t wait to try again and hopefully with more favorable weather conditions! She has a lovely property and provides everything you could need for a great stay; just need to figure out the water leaking in to the Bison tipi!

White Tail Tipi Stay
Definitely recommend staying on Carie's land for a quiet, relaxing weekend. It rained most of our trip so we were very thankful to have the tipi for shelter. We loved having a view of the bison right from our campsite. Even grabbed some frozen bison meat from the store on the way out, delicious. Carie is what you hope you get from a host when renting somewhere to stay. She was very welcoming and was a message away if we needed her. Can't say enough nice things. Overall a very relaxing, secluded, unique stay that we would book again if we are staying in the area.
