Darwin is the gateway to the amazing Kakadu National Park. There are many popular waterfront areas with several beaches and green areas like Bicentennial Park. While sightseeing, make sure you visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, displaying Southeast Asian and Pacific art. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some good fishing and mountain biking spots. We are located on a 5-acre block on the edge of town. The top 2 acres are laid out in a tropical garden setting, with the other 3 acres set out with native Darwin plants visited by lots of native animals and birds. You'll feel like you're a whole world away yet you will only be 2 minutes from the supermarket, 5 minutes from a large shopping centre, and 15 minutes from Darwin's CBD. We are a small boutique site and only have currently 3 sites on the 5 acres. Your site is private and you will be able to enjoy your stay without interference from others. IMPORTANT: Each site can accommodate 2 adults MAX. If you have 3 or 4 adults, you will need to book both sites. Please note Pool site is open all year round and has permanent cover. Other sites are dependant on weather and access.

Bougainvillea Site
Great site for tranquility but still centrally located for anything in Darwin! We stayed 3 nights with our pets and had a great time. Pete was super accomodating and the facilities he offers are exceptional!

Bush Site Horse Bush NO POWER
Fantastic stay!!!
We absolutely loved this campsite, great host (Pete) who was very kind to us during our stay. Great facilities! Campsite is very close to Darwin city which is very convenient, but the campsite itself is peaceful and tranquil with wildlife and plants. Enough shade from trees, we had the corner of the property to ourselves. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

Bush Site Cocky Apple NO POWER
Peter’s urban retreat was exactly as described - a little jungle oasis in the suburbs. The camping spot was private and exactly as described. Peter was friendly and hospitable. It was amazing to see the amount of care and attention and pride he has in looking after his land! The toilets and shower were impeccable and by far the best we’ve ever used at a campsite so far! Loved it and would come again in a heartbeat

Mango Shed Site
What a great hipcamp. Alot of thought has gone in to this little gem. Lots of privacy with ample distance between sites. The amentities are modern and were always spotless. The pool was an added bonus. Thanks Peter for sharing your little bit of paradise with us. We would definately stay here again.

Bougainvillea Site
What a great place to base ourselves (and dog) for our Darwin adventures. We were met by Peter and shown to our private site, surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. There was a welcome pack with all the information about the surrounding trees, wildlife, places to visit and great recommendations on places to eat. Toilet and showers were immaculate and there is a washing machine to use for a gold coin donation (which goes to charity) The pool was a very welcome addition especially after a hot day. We would 100% recommend The Urban Retreat which is hands down better than any caravan park we have stayed in. Fantastic job Peter and Troy on creating a great tranquil place to stay 😎
