10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. We have since repaired and opened the road, but there are still some remaining rough areas. Up near the tobacco barn there is a very small creek that is flowing across the road because the existing culvert is plugged. The flowing water is only a few inches deep. The road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. If you are coming in with a low clearance vehicle and have concerns, please contact us. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

Loafers Joy RV Site
Michael’s land is the perfect spot for a private campsite that isn’t isolated. This was my first time camping alone and I felt very safe and comfortable. The sunset views were gorgeous, I liked waking up to the sound of cows mooing and rooster croaking, the port-a-potty was very clean, I loved that there was a picnic table, and I appreciated the option for electricity and firewood. Small but important detail - I also really liked how tall the wall of the fireplace was! It made it so I didn’t have to worry about wind gusts. 10/10 would recommend Michael’s. Boone is a fun weekend destination for me so I imagine I’ll be back in the future :)
