Camping on A Small Alpaca Farm
I had a wonderful time staying at Robin and Phil’s campsite. They were kind, generous hosts. I booked the campsite last minute, just a few hours before I arrived. When I arrived it was only about 30 minutes until sunset. However, Robin and Phil were there to answer any questions I had, and provide anything I needed for a comfortable stay. When I arrived, I was greeted by a roaring campfire and piles of freshly cut firewood adjacent to my campsite, and Robin filled up a large jug of potable water for me to use at my site for drinking and cooking. Phil also set up the Porta-potty that I was to use during my stay, but I was able to thankfully use the washroom in their home when I arrived after a long, drive to freshen up. They were very kind to ask if I’d like company, or to be alone by the campfire. Because I was so exhausted after driving, I opted to have some space alone, but the conversations I had with them were so lovely and I wish I had been able to stay more nights to spend enjoying their company by the campfire. Robin and Phil gave me a tour of the alpaca farm as well. The alpacas are so cute and funny! I really enjoyed meeting them and getting to know their very silly personalities. I especially love Tessa and Oreo, their youngest alpaca at just eight months old. Oreo was very silly and liked to jump around. it was a very clear night and the sky was full of stars, and I enjoyed my evening cooking food by the campfire. I was travelling with my dog, and this is a very dog friendly spot. There’s lots of room for a dog to roam around the land, so I brought a long leash and allowed my dog to explore. I was their first guest on Hipcamp as they are new hosts, and I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, Robin and Phil, for a beautiful first night in New York State. Sincerely, a very thankful Canadian.
