the locals know our street because of the indigenous people and early Dutch settlers mixing with the slaves. Much history here, with the small town of stone houses, making Hurley a national historic destination.  This serene campsite is secluded on a mountain surrounded by trees with seasonal views. The campsite is neighboring 105 acres of beautiful conservatory land available for hiking. No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Within a 10 minute drive check out some of the local restaurants like Alebrijes, Hickory BBQ & Smokehouse, and the Hurley Inn where the movie “Tootsie” was filmed!. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The town of Kingston is about 15 minutes from our site where you will find Bluestone Wild Forest, antique shops, restaurants, other outdoor activities! The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you. We will be back!!! 10/10 A+++
10/10. Howard is a legend. And the camp spot is the perfect mix of remoteness, with the right amount of civilization (aka, super clean and private toilet and shower just a 3 min walk away). We will be back here many more times. Thanks so much, Howard!

Camp Hygge
The stay itself was swell. Ultimately, the experience was tainted when the host requested we pay for one of the old plastic Adirondack chairs provided at the campsite. While one of the members of our party was sitting in the chair, the chair broke from under him leading to him falling onto the floor and nearly striking his head. The plastic chair provided was visibly weathered and old (he used it at his own risk ofcourse). Luckily my friend is young and nimble, if it had been an elderly person or someone less agile, that person could have been seriously injured. My friend was only sitting in said chair using the chair as intended, not even shifting his weight when it snapped and crashed out from under him. I ofcourse notified Howard of the incident. However, it is only 15$ and we paid Howard regardless. A broken wrist or concussion could be worth much more, so we are happy our 180lb friend came away unscathed. The site itself was very buggy but quiet and peaceful. The wooden platform built by Howard was great, although one plank was lifted and had a nail sticking up. A tent could easily be ripped on that nail.

Camp Hygge
Sweet spot!
We had a great stay and camp hygge! The space is easy to find, make sure you look for the Bear on the right. The site is tucked back, and you can’t hear the street at all. There is lovely ambiance of the chickens and dogs, and all are friendly. Note that the sauna price is for one person, not for general use. We redirect our fee to the hot tub which was around 94 degrees - a little cool but still pleasant. Important to note that the out house door locks from the outside, make sure to leave it propped when using! We set up on the platform which was great for the rain on the tail end of our trip. Howard is a great host and we recommend this site!

Camp Hygge
Howard is a great host! He was readily available for any questions and even provided us with a tarp for one of the nights when it rained. The campsite was simple with a wooden deck, picnic table, fire pit area and seating. Enough trees surrounding to hang a hammock and some string lights. We were super close to nearby towns, hikes, and trails but still felt secluded enough to enjoy your own space and wind down. It was a little buggy even being in the 50s but nothing the campfire and a little bug spray didn’t take care of. The full bathroom and shower is short walk from the site and a really nice luxury. There is also a little outhouse right at the campsite if you’d prefer not to walk. Dog friendly as well which is always a plus! There’s no fencing/area blocked off, it’s all wide open so be sure to bring long leash if your dog isn’t the best at staying close by. Overall we enjoyed our time and would recommend if you’re looking for something simple and close to town!

Camp Hygge was a dream! Very close to town and secluded at the same time. It really had all the amenities you needed to enjoyably car camp with friends. Howard was very communicative and helpful throughout our stay. I would recommend anyone book this campsite!

Great spot for a weekend near NYC
The location is great! It is accessible, but also very private. Not too far from Woodstock or New Paltz, and close to great hikes. The outhouse and platform made the tent site much more comfortable than a normal camping spot. I would say that you need to be extra diligent if not in a 4WD vehicle, especially if it is muddy (which it was not particularly). The mosquitos were not too bad most of the day, but were rough in the late afternoon and early evening. We used an off diffuser and slathered on spray, which helped, as did staying by the fire. The full shower/ bathroom were clutch, especially if you’re looking to do a hike. Howard was very responsive, and the eggs we purchased from his hens were the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the Barrd owls hooting to eachother at night.
