Wind through the picturesque sugarcane fields of South Ballina where you will find us on our 60 acre property with spectacular ocean views, beautiful native bushland and Australian wildlife. Sugar Beach Ranch is one of the most secluded treasures in the Northern Rivers, only 40 mins from Byron Bay NSW and within 30 mins to Ballina, Bangalow and surrounding scenic waterfalls. The property offers a two-bedroom bungalow and a secluded campsite for self-contained campers, in addition to our other variety of services including retreats, equine therapy, weddings and venue hire. Our property is surrounded by the crystal clear ocean, a beautiful rural outlook and rainforest walks. Sugar Beach Ranch offers you a private and picturesque beachfront experience. Simply put it's ‘Nature’s Playground’. Sugar Beach Ranch is a special place... a place of relaxation and reflection. We want guests to enjoy the break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Wake up to songs of native birds. Bring your own horse, guitar, or your writing book and loll away the hours nurturing your soul in paradise. All guests have shared access to the 15m resort-style magnesium pool and direct beach access from the property. We are a wildlife sanctuary and an operating farm with horses, chickens, ducks, pigeons and a peacock. There are dogs on the property to protect the chickens and other animals from predators, so please don’t bring any pets of your own. Enjoy Sugar Beach Ranch with your horse, bring them along for the holiday, and plenty of beach and trail rides. Paddock accommodation available. As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $7.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive. The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed. Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests. If you have a special occasion or event you are considering, please don’t hesitate to contact Stevey to discuss further.

The best of bush and beach
Sugar Beach Ranch was an amazing camp spot. Super easy to find, camping area is open so easy for our van and big 4wds. Stevey was super accommodating. The ranch was the perfect mix of bush and beach. The kids loved the horses and having the freedom to ride their bikes. We were lucky enough to be there when they had a new foal. Thankyou so much for such an amazing stay.

Absolutely beautiful
Sugar Ranch is beautiful. It provides plenty of opportunities for things to do like the pool, beach access and parting horses. We are grateful for the easy toilet access and water tap. It was an amazing stay. I would go back again in a heartbeat. Thank you stevey!

Tropical Oasis with Horsey Friends!
Camping at Sugar beach was a dream, after arriving and parking in the lovely little paddock in the shade of a small wood. We took a stroll through the property to the beach and took in the awe of the crashing waves. After the walk back we went for a dip in the perfect temp pool surrounded by friendly chooks. If you are staying here, please DO NOT MISS the mindfulness experience with the horses, even if you're not 'into' that stuff like myself - I felt at ease and relaxed with Maxime our lovely guide. And who can't be relaxed hanging out with horses with such calm temperaments. Oakley and Morocco will be in our hearts forever. Stevey was super quick to answer any questions we had and kindly brought us down a fire pit to use in the evenings, Thanks for an awesome stay Stevey & Maxime. A trip we won't forget! We stayed for two nights but could've stayed longer, super easy drive up or down the coast to nice coastal surf towns, and once it gets too hot or tired of sipping lattes, the pool felt like an oasis to escape from the heat. If you want to feel off the beaten track and pretend to be a ranch hand (without all the hard work) for a weekend then this is the place to be.

An absolute must
A hidden paradise - farm nestled among paddocks filled with the friendliest horses who always came over for a pat or two. (Even better when you have it all to yourself). The rain was heavy during my stay but made it no less enjoyable and was treated to a goodie bag filled with home grown bananas, eggs and honey from their beehive too! Will definitely be returning.
