Nos Astra - Container Cabin
Slice of tranquility
We loved staying at Nos Astra! Directions to the site were clear and we had no issue finding it. The site is cleared of trees (good for bushfire risk) but you are otherwise surrounded by them bringing a deep sense of serenity. We enjoyed relaxing on the large deck overlooking the fire while absorbing the wide view over the Megalong Valley and escarpments looking east. Mornings and late afternoons were the most spectacular as the lighting changed dramatically. Several times we saw a pair of wedge-tailed eagles circling high and many curious kangaroos. The cabin itself is very comfortable and well appointed. BYO deck chairs, picnic rug & camp table were a must so we could enjoy the deck to its full potential. Several out & back walks are possible (including from the road out front which is v. quiet) but the land is steep and at times slippery so decent quality shoes are essential.

Hidden off grid Gem!
Great off gird spot, with excellent swimming and 4x4 spots to adventure close by. John has excellent instruction user manaul with plenty of detials written out to ensure a smooth stay. Outdoor fire was excellent with fantasic views of the valley below. Be aware of snakes! We counted 3 on our travels, none around the house more down towards the river. Good 4x4 tracks if you take the left 4x4 track up towards Snake and nip river camp ground, can get rough going to be prepared for serious rock crawling.

A Perfect Retreat with Scenic Views and Plenty to Do!
I recently stayed at jonhs place and the location truly took my breath away. Surrounded by stunning natural scenery, the views were incredible—whether it was the sunrise over the hills, the peaceful lake, or the dense forest that stretched for miles. It felt like I was completely immersed in nature, making it the perfect getaway from the city.
If you’re looking for a place with gorgeous , I highly recommend this campsite. I’ll definitely be returning!

Lovely mini getaway
Nos Astra was a lovely mini getaway nestled in 100 acres of pure tranquility. It was a treat to have a private and secluded place, where we explored off-road trails and hiked through the wilderness. We reconnected with nature, taking in the mountain views and being awed by the kangaroos hopping by. Sitting around the campfire, gazing up at the stars was truly breathtaking. Our furry companions had the best time, sniffing all the new scents the land had to offer. The cabin was well equipped with all the necessities and extras thoughtfully planned out by our lovely host, John. He also checked in with us to ensure we were settled in for the weekend. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that we highly recommend if you're seeking the perfect blend of nature, adventure and comfort.
