Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. For those interested in exploring the park trails via horseback we can also provide secure lodgings for your horses, with quality hay available for purchase. Be as adventurous or as restfull as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hilking, Horse riding, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo" There is approximately 4km gravel road to get to the property. Mobile reception is patchy (telstra) you may need to get to the top of a hill for reception. Very little or no reception for other networks. Our aim is for your visit to be private so are spacing our sites . From Easter will no longer have undesignated river sites, all river sites will be designated and spaced a part. If you have a large group the Park One & the bend are large spaces. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites. We have recently levelled the camping area at Rockpool Junction and The Falls, the grass is slowly returning. (August 2024) Send us a message if you have any questions.

Amazing property! A true gem.
Camped at the “park” for 2 nights and could not recommend it enough! The location is amazing ! Prue was a fantastic Host and ensured that everything was in place and provided an overview of the property and what was accessible to explore . The portaloos were the cleanest I have seen in a long time . The property is stunning with a number of campsites to choose from . Will be back for sure, Next time for a bit longer.

10/10 - As Good As it Gets!
We loved this hipcamp! We are regular campers and this spot is now in our top two destinations. The creek and rockpools are pristine, teaming with life. We shared our nights with platypus, fireflies and eels cruising up and down the creek in front of our camp. Prue the host was lovely and made our stay very enjoyable with her kind hospitality. Facilities are great - toilets, firewood etc and we found the property very easy to get to from the nearest town of Tenterfield, a short and pretty drive. Camp sites are a good distance apart for privacy.

We had a lovely weekend at Mindoo. Great communication with Prue and after shown to our site, we saw no other humans for the whole time. There was an abundance of bird life, platypus sightings, a cool dip in the river and the wind in the casuarinas. We’ll definitely return.

Stunning river camp.
Koala is such a stunning place by the riverbank. We didn’t have the greatest weather for our stay but couldn’t resist walking the riverbanks, climbing the boulders , jumping across the rock pools, and watching the platypus swim by. Thoroughly recommend the peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and we will be back when we can.
