Harper Farms is a fourth generation, family owned cattle property out of the small township of Cangai; just 50 minutes west of Grafton. Located along the Mann River, just one kilometre off the Gwydir Highway, campers will find easy access to our riverfront site. The property is bordered by the Dandahra Creek and the Mann River, and boasts a variety of native bird and wildlife; peacocks, platypus, ducks and the occasional pelican to name a few. The Mann River is open to fishing November - July; and is a local favourite as a kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming destination. Beef cattle and stock horses have been run continuously on the property since the early 1900s, and our friendly horses and cows will often pay a visit to the campsite. Along with our working dogs, we also run a small breeding kennel of Golden Retrievers and Border Collies. Dogs are always welcome on the farm, and we simply ask that camp visitors keep them under their control during their stay. A small shop with basic amenities (groceries, camp supplies, fishing bait, fuel) is located at Jackadgery; a 15 minutes drive east on the Gwydir Highway. To the west of Harper Farms lies the Gibraltar Range which hosts Washpool National Park with walking trails, waterfalls, rainforest and swimming areas. Away from the city lights, the Cangai area offers exceptional stargazing and is popular with keen astronomers and photographers. Our property currently hosts one large campsite; ideal for family and large group gatherings. Booking the site includes complete privacy for your group whether large or small. Our family and friends have gathered at Harper Farms for over a century to enjoy the beauty of the Cangai area, and we are excited for you to come “Camp Cangai” too!Camp Cangai offers easy access for all camping vehicles, making it a great spot for family getaways. The property has spacious river flats that accommodate large groups comfortably.  There is extensive river frontage for kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, fishing and relaxing. During seasonable weather there are clean shallow swimming areas for young children.  Scattered trees and bush offer privacy and shade. Vehicles are to remain in the designated entry/exit drive and camping areas, but visitors are welcome to bushwalk and explore the river and creek perimeters.  Well behaved pets are welcome, but please keep them under your control at all times as we are a working cattle farm.  Campfires are allowed as the season permits, and firewood is available at a nightly rate. A rustic pit toilet and camp shelter are on site for your use, but please provide your own drinking water and shower/bathing amenities. Children aged 6 years and under camp for free. Please book children 7 years and older.

Camp Cangai
Great property. And beautiful view. There was a nice flat area to set up, plenty of fire wood and nice and quiet. There were some other campers on the other side of the river at a different place but they were far enough away that privacy wasn’t an issue. Would happily go back.

Camp Cangai
An exceptional place
Amazing camp spot! Easy to find. The drop toilet was neat and tidy. There were plenty of great spots to park our camper trailer. No phone reception at all, it was just what we needed. The river was easily accessed and lovely to swim in. Plenty of firewood was available for each night. We enjoyed the curious peacocks and cattle. We will be back!

Camp Cangai
Private Riverfront Camping
Fabulous, private, riverfront campsite. We loved every minute of our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. Quite a special and beautiful location. Good deal on the fire wood supplied and very nice hosts. Love to go back for a longer stay.
