Our working farm is located between Kempsey and Armidale in the beautiful Macleay Valley in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. We offer large, grassy campsites on the beautiful Macleay River and a modern amenities block with hot showers and flushing toilets. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION** Cracknback Campground is situated almost half way between Kempsey and Armidale shires. They are each responsible for this road. The boundary between the two shires is at Blackbird Flat - which is 12 km from us towards Kempsey. The Armidale Shire section of road is officially closed - however we do have permission to operate. DO NOT USE GPS! Because the road is closed on Live Traffic, GPS will take you into the back hills. From Kempsey 1.5 hours. Travel through Willawarrin, Bellbrook and continue straight for 40 mins until you see our signs on the left. From Armidale 1.5 hours. Travel app 41km on Waterfall Way. Turn right onto Kempsey-Armidale Road. Cracknback is app 54km on the right. * Heaps of flat ground for kids to ride bikes * Watch tortoises and fish in the river * Free kayaks for use * Beautiful mountain ranges and such an open sky you can see the Milky Way! * 30 roomy sites, flushing toilets, hot showers * Family friendly * We are dog friendly...if your dog is friendly. * Fire pits provided but bring your own wood Additional guests welcome at $20 per head per night over 15 years old. Kids 5 - 15 years $5 per night. Under 5 years freeWelcome! DO NOT FOLLOW GPS!! Because the road is closed on live traffic, GPS will send you into backroads. Stick to Kempsey-Armidale road. Drive in a straight line until you see Cracknback Campground signs. Please be aware that the Armidale Council section of Kempsey-Armidale Road is officially 'closed' to all but residents until major roadworks begin in 2025. Armidale shire starts 12km before us coming from Kempsey. We have permission from Council to operate, so if you are using our business, you may legitimately disregard road closed signs. Please drive carefully. Dont drive over rock fall. It is sharp and will puncture tyres! Cracknback is situated on the beautiful Macleay River in the Mid North Coast of NSW. It is the perfect getaway spot to enjoy majestic mountains and pristine wilderness. Enjoy bass fishing, swimming, kayaking or just chilling out under the stars.  Lots of flat ground for kids to ride bikes. Hot showers and flushing toilets give some creature comforts with basic, large camping sites. Fire pits provided but please bring your own wood. This is a 'leave no trace' property. We ask that you take all rubbish home and leave your site as pristine as you found it. This is a working farm and a work in progress! Welcome home

Camping by the river!
Great spot along the Upper Macleay River. Secluded with a terrific out look. Large amount of land so no fears of being over crowded Facilities were clean and functional. Beth is a caring host who checked in on us, making sure we were okay. Would heartily recommend, Neil, Steph and Grace

Cracknback Riverside Camping
Amazing
An amazing huge piece of land that can host heaps of camp sites. We got to Cracknback late and ended up setting up camp at night, using the headlights from our car. This resulted in the battery going flat. I informed Beth that night and she said no worries, we can sort this. Next morning Beth and Ben came to our rescue and jump started our car. We got a bit of history on the property from the friendly duo and spent the rest of the time relaxing. We want to head back in Summer so we can enjoy the lake! Highly recommend!
