Callicoma Hill offers bush camping for groups in a forest clearing, an off-grid 10 bed rustic bunkhouse and an off-grid self-contained 3 bedroom eco-cabin in the forested mountains at Mount Royal, on the edge of the Barrington wilderness in the Hunter Valley of NSW. We also occasionally offer a camping site in our front paddock with a spectacular 80km view over the Hunter Valley. It is an ideal off-grid bush getaway for families and groups, offering peace and quiet, a mountainside of forest, enviable views and sunsets across the Hunter Valley and fresh mountain air. Most importantly, guests have exclusive use of our property in each area, so you don't have to share with other visitors. We are near Mount Royal National Park, adjoining the Barrington Tops wilderness area. The area is part of the World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforest Reserves, a place of great scenic beauty and natural diversity. Best of all, it is quiet and away from the crowds. Whether you want an easy walk in nature and peace, an adventurous climb to see a breathtaking view, or are in training for an epic multi-day walk, Mount Royal National Park provides excellent bushwalking opportunities. Or, you can simply stay at camp and sit and relax!

Mt Royal Bush Camping for Groups
Awesome experience, will be back!
What a fantastic spot with fantastic owners. The site was beautiful, spacious, well equipped, well looked after and wonderfully private. I would absolutely recommend having an event here as we really thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The amenities added the perfect amount of comfort so that we were still out camping but not having to rough it too hard. The owners were absolute legends and worked with our requests and needs with grace. The bunkhouse was warm and insulated and the big stock of firewood let us have a roaring fire the whole time. 10/10

Fantastic!!
My friends and I had a wonderful weekend at Callicoma Hill!!! The drive in past Lake Saint Clair was stunning, the property is easy to find, and it was lovely to meet our hosts. So much love for the environment has gone into this beautiful place, it is peaceful and welcoming. We enjoyed hiking nearby and lots of wildlife spotting. The cabin was warm and cosy, and we'd love to come back and also try the camping option next time! A huge thanks to Martin and Jan for a lovely stay.

Mt Royal Bush Camping for Groups
Callicoma Hill camping is just a lovely spot and you don't need to share it with anyone else! Martin and Jan's place and the eco cabins are about 700m from the campsite so kids can run around wild and won't bother anyone but the local critters. Either camp or stay in the bunkhouse or both. We booked for camping but ended up staying in the bunkhouse which was clean and tidy. We had an amazing time.

Beautiful views and lovely hosts!
My friends and I came and stayed at Martin and Jan’s eco cabin and we had a great time! The views from the cabin and on the way to the cabin were really beautiful, our hosts were very friendly and helpful and I personally really enjoyed learning how to use the woodfire oven. One of us managed to get a frisbee stuck on the roof and Martin was very kind and understanding and helped get it down. I would really recommend the eco cabin and we are already planning on coming back!
