Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this campsite, and it was a great experience! The rustic charm truly captures the essence of the Aussie outdoors, providing a great atmosphere for relaxation and adventure. The owners were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The spacious sites allowed for plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the natural surroundings. Plus, being close to Picton made it convenient for exploring the area. This campsite is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to escape into nature for a short 48-hour adventure. I can’t recommend it enough!

The Secret Buxton - Getaway
Beautiful Buxton!
We loved our stay at the secret Buxton getaway! We had a beautiful little spot by the dam. We spotted lots of wildlife and beautiful native plants and flowers. There was a nice iron fire pit too. The pit toilets were the cleanest I’ve ever seen in all my years of camping. Kim, our host was absolutely lovely and knowledgeable about the area. This camp is right next to Nattai national park and there are some beautiful hikes close by. Would definitely love to stay here again.

We absolutely loved our stay. Our campsite was so peaceful and private with no overcrowding, great amenities and plenty of water available. Beautiful walk to Little River, which was stunning and a great place to swim. Kim was a wonderful and hospitable host with exceptional attention to detail and comfort. We would definitely come back again!

The Secret Getaway - Buxton
Awsome a must stay!
What a hidden gem! Im a local for over 35 years and had no idea how close such a great camping property was to us basically down the road! Kim is such a pleasant and friendly host. The grounds are neat and tidy, has an extremely clean drop toilet, outdoor sports activities for the kids and kayaks available. You can truely see the love and effort in this property. As Ive always wanted to see little river and the aqua pool, we took the trek down there twice! So beautiful! Its easy for first 10 mins but the second 10 mins is all down hill on a rocky zig zaggy rock face but its ok with a hiking stick. 10/10 we will be back again!
