In the hinterland of the Mid North Coast NSW on Biripi Country. Balgarr means mountain in local Gattang language. The cabin is off grid, includes a small kitchenette with 2 burner gas stove, fridge, has double bed and 2 single beds. We have a BBQ and fire pit. This is rustic living, no flash flush here but a practical long drop eco-friendly compost toilet and a fantastic gas hot water shower out in the elements! You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows sheets etc. we are on tank water and at times it is low! Dogs are welcome but please bring their own bedding. As we are 45 minutes from the closest town, so you will need to fuel up before you head up the mountain. Also bring drinking water and all the food you will require for your stay. The property is also home to local wildlife and filled with lots of old trees, plants and flowers to enjoy your morning cuppa on the balcony. Loads of walking tracks nearby; the Legendary Ellenborough Falls is 5 mins by car or half hour walk through the Elands Village Hour and half from Port Macquarie and Forster and one hour from Taree in the hinterland from Wingham or Comboyne (coming from Port Macquarie). There is an endless network of gravel roads and fire trails waiting to be explored by vehicle or mountain bike, taking you through the national parks, state forests and undulating farmlands of the Bulga Plateau. This delightful self contained cabin is a perfect getaway for you to work on your project – be it visual art; a book; a film script; photography or simply forest breathing to clear the mind. 600 metres above sea level on clear nights it feels like you are close enough to touch the Milky Way!After you have settled into the cabin you could visit the Ellenborough Falls only 5 minutes by car, they drop 160 metres off the Bulga Plateau and flow into the Hastings River near Ellenborough on the Oxley Highway. Interesting geology at the falls and nearby Bulga Falls (15 mins by car) as they exist on major fault lines that are approx 30 million years old of the Tertiary period. For the local Biripi people Elands was a seasonal gathering place and a passage over the Bulga plateau to unite with neighbouring tribes for ceremony. Bulga means waterfall in the local Biripi (Kattang) language.

Balgarr
The most perfect back-to-nature accomodation which nourished our souls. Enjoying a hot shower amongst nature and the birds was delightful. This is a rustic abode and it's exactly what we were hoping for. Perfect spot to retreat to after a day exploring the local environment. Thankyou Barbara. It's an amazing spot!
