Camp Chima
The road there was a bit rough, but we made it. The host, Martinez, drove his RV to talk to us when we arrived. He was very kind & responsive. There was a sign to the camp ground. There were a lot of stars, so nice to stargaze. Was mostly quiet, with the exception of some animals. Fire pit available and a stream nearby.

Camp Chima
Hidden Gem
I enjoyed my first night so much, I booked another. I parked right next to the creek and slept like a baby. I saw lots of fireflies and the dark skies are amazing. There’s pretty good cell service there too.

Camp Chima
Hidden Gem
Had such a nice relaxing evening at Mr Martinez’s place that I ended up staying another night. It’s a beautiful property that’s hidden in the cottonwoods off the main highway. So quiet and peaceful next to a stream. For astronomy lovers, the night sky is amazing and we had a little star party.

Camp Chima
Pilgrimage camping to El Santuario
This was a memorable tent camping experience. Mr. Martínez is friendly and helpful. There was ample room for our tents. The little cinder block fire pit works well for cooking. A classic narrow New Mexico stream runs along one side of the land. We felt safe and the stay was peaceful and quiet. Mr. Martinez also gave us some local firewood which burned nice. Our main destination was el santuario de chimayo. This camp site is close enough that we were able to comfortably walk there in time for the daily outdoor Mass at 11am. I miss you already New Mexico!

Camp Chima
Hidden little semi-primitive gem.
Camp Chima was a great find! We wanted something peaceful and full of stars, and Camp Chima delivered. On top of that, Jimmy, the host, was super friendly. He gave us firewood for our enjoyment, plus recommended us to visit The Santuario de Chimayo, which turned out to be a beautiful experience. And did I mention that Camp Chima is right next to a stream? Definitely five out five stars.
