Located 50 miles from midtown Manhattan (approx 1:08 minutes) is our brand new campsite located right off the Appalachian Trail. The camp is at the base of Wawayanda mountain right between the iconic hikes "Stairway to Heaven" and "Pochuck Boardwalk" on the Appalachian Trail. Hike right from camp up to "Pinwheel Vista" (named one of NJ's best viewpoints!) At the entrance to the property is the Valley Farmers Cooperative that sells local grass fed meats and artisanal farm goods. You can walk two minutes to Heaven Hill Farm which has plenty of goods, produce, and fun fall activities like pumpkin picking and haunted hayrides. Drive your car from route 94 directly to your campsite nestled in the woods with a great view of the valley. A perfect getaway from the city with plenty to offer. About 10 minutes down 94 is the beautiful town of Warwick or about 4 minutes in the opposite direction is the town of Vernon. Warwick is a quaint small town with plenty of great restaurants and bars, and famous for its apple picking. Vernon has plenty to offer as well including the popular ski resort/waterpark Mountain Creek and Minerals Spa (Located just under 10 minutes away.) The quiet charm of Wawayanda State Park appeals to hikers, campers, swimmers and boaters. Forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda creating a restful backdrop for canoeists and fisherman, while steep mountains challenge casual as well as serious hikers. A twenty-mile stretch of Appalachian Trail runs through the park, while the top of Wawayanda Mountain offers sensational views. More than sixty miles of trails are marked in the park.

The Lookout
Adorable tent and beautiful view, even with the road in sight and the occasional loud train in the evenings. The host was very communicative which is always so helpful. The amenities are very basic which we knew going in, though the porta potty is shared by 3 tents. The open space by the tent was great for our young kids. We really enjoyed our stay, and are glad we came, but we likely wouldn't return to this site.

What a gem
Spacious woodsy site nestled in a quiet, private campground. Each site has its own character and some have distinct amenities. Our site had a large sturdy teepee with a comfortable bed, plus a fire pit flanked by benches and an Adirondack chair. Trailhead is steps away. Host is terrific - responsive, reliable and eager to help. He ensured we had pre-purchased firewood waiting for us at the site. Highly recommended all around.

Wonderful Campsite!
My partner and I have been here before and we've never had any complaints. The area was beautiful and isolated for privacy and the hiking trail is close by! Our dog, Charlie, had a blast for his first camping trip. The best feature about this campsite is that the site owner is SUPER responsive 🎉 we would definitely recommend this site. It's a beautiful getaway.

The Lookout
Perfect Sanctuary!!!
My son and I spent 3 days there. Unfortunately it rained the whole time!! But the Dome proved the perfect sanctuary. It was clean, spacious, the bed was super comfortable. No leaks! The battery&fan lasted the whole time! We charged our phones and fan with it. Tons of games to choose from! The trash containers were bear ready but we didn’t see any nor did we see any snakes (to my son’s disappointment) . Beautiful night sounds filled the air. There were sheep in a field near by that were fun to watch. The outhouse was very clean!!! We would definitely come back and recommend it to others! Oh- and there is an Acme 7 min. Down the road!

Hop on the hiking trail with ease
We could not ask for a better spot to start our day hike on the Stairway to Heaven, Appalachian Trail. The site was beautifully maintained, good for dogs and kids. No running water, but for a short stay- easy to bring enough water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Add showers to this campground and it would be perfect!
