West side river camp
Secluded Bliss
This is a single campsite well off the beaten path. There are roads to the site but I'd suggest an AWD vehicle and you definitely need some ground clearance. Our Hyundai Tuscon did alright navigating the potholes on the back country gravel roads. That said bring EVERYTHING with you. It's about 20 min (depending on road conditions) to even get to the main road then another 20 to Houlton, ME The site itself is beautiful. Located right on the edge of the river it has a platform for your tent, a fire pit, and an outhouse. What else could you need? Our dog loved chilling in the river. It is not very deep but is very refreshing for a dip. The host, Bradly was very responsive through the app and even let us extend our visit despite not having enough Cell signal to get online. It was a wonderfully secluded spot to spend our wedding anniversary and we will definitely be back.
