I was apparently the first patron of The Grove it's located on Grain Elevator Road so if you're a fan of abandoned industrial artifacts you will have come to the right place. to develop this further, if you're looking for a beautiful scenic site to camp this is probably not going to be your first choice. the location however is a big plus I was staying there because I wanted to get close to the Festival International, the fantastic free francophone 5-day music festival in Lafayette on the first weekend of the New Orleans jazz fest.. so about a 15 to 20 minute drive to get to downtown Lafayette using 49 ; there's a nice scenic route on 31 going south to get to the Breaux Bridge highway that's a nice alternative route but the roads are horrible so be aware. The Grove refers to a large stand of trees which is really one of the last remaining little group of trees in that area since it's mainly agricultural fields but it's very nice... incredible Firefly display once the sun goes down... next door is a private lot filled with assorted stuff ...travel trailers, all kinds of bric-a-brac ...again not the most scenic sight but lots of space here... for a kayaker paddling on the Teche there's a official landing site no more than 500 yards from this site if you are looking for a place to get out of your kayaks and camp for the evening
