This is an extremely private setting that you will love if you don't mind working a little to get there!Paddle your kayak or canoe to this private campsite on the riverbank of the beautiful Tippecanoe River fed by 88 lakes. The site is accessible via the river for those that like to kayak camp. For those less adventurous, the site is also accessible on foot via a short trail through the woods. The campsite offers extreme privacy. Once there, You'll be surrounded by some of the tallest trees that northern Indiana has to offer. Your camp neighbors consist of deer, beaver, river otters, mink, owls, Bald Eagles, raccoon, ducks, geese, coyotes, rabbits, bats, opossum, muskrat, squirrels, snakes, turtles, frogs, and many species of birds. As nature intended, this is a primitive site in which you must bring everything with you and take everything with you when you leave. This is what "real" camping is all about! Campfire wood may be scavenged from the surrounding woods from dead or fallen trees. Precut firewood is also available at the backup site at no charge as long as it lasts. Parking is located at the backup site. You can drive your car, truck, motorcycle, or small motorhome right to the backup site using a well manicured solid dirt/sand drive. Occasionally, mother nature unleashes a torrential rain and the Tippecanoe River rises to flood stage inundating the riverside site making it unusable. When that happens, you MUST use the backup site which is on high ground. When the river is at flood stage, floodwater nearly surrounds the entirety of the backup site. This makes the backup site a very unique camping experience as well!
