GREEN SANDS FUNNY FARM
Joshua was an excellent host after he arrived, but he arrived after dark so understanding the campsite was a bit difficult when I first arrived. I left and came back about three hours later and still found myself without a host to explain the camp. He and his friend even cooked a nice chicken and rice dinner for me that was a really nice treat. They recommended several interesting sites. Unfortunately the hideaway lacked a good tent site (rocks and roots were pretty much everywhere). The scattered construction debris made the site unattractive. I ended up sleeping in my car due to the lack of a suitable tent site. When I arrived and found nobody present the obvious toilet was a bucket under a toilet seat and the shower consisted of a poly tube with a couple holes cut in it in a makeshift rough structure. I didn’t use either but went to a nearby organic coffee and chocolate tasting farm that offered me use of their shower and toilet. After dark Joshua arrived and then explained there was a flush toilet and hot shower attached his adjacent abode that campers are welcome to use. That would have been really nice to know in the afternoon when I arrived in need of a shower. If you are looking for interesting company in a tight location this place is inexpensive. If you are looking for your own space you might be disappointed. It was obvious that Joshua is trying to make a camp that folks will like. He has a ways to go before this will rate highly with most campers.

Off the grid experience
It was a great place, Josh was amazing waiting for us, and helping us setting up camp! The shower was outdoors and the water was good and hot! If you’re looking for adventures this is the way to go, just don’t forget mosquito repellent!!! And your good to go

GREEN SANDS FUNNY FARM
To be honest, it didn't look anything like the picture..it was really run down looking ..all we could see was an old shack and it was far from the actual green sands beach . It all seemed a bit "back woods" sketchy . It wasn't our cup of tea and we wanted the beach , so we moved on .

Overall a great time with a very friendly & knowledgeable host. Not as private as we expected, but this space has a lot of potential!

Excellent Stay
I had an Amazing time staying at Green Sands Campsite with Joshua! I came to Hawaii to tent camp off the beaten path with a few amenities, and this site was Exactly what I was looking for! It's an off the grid homestead being improved day by day. It has a flushing toilet, hot running water at the sink and a Hot shower. There are cooking utensils and (pots/pans) available for guest usage. There is a large solar power station for lighting and also charging cords for charging your phone, cameras, laptops and whatever else needs some juice! There is also a nice lava rock fire pit with chairs around it for just relaxing and looking at the Amazing starry sky! Close to everything on the south end it's a short 66 miles to either Hilo or Kailua Kona. Josh was very knowledgeableabout plants and places to go, and actually took a couple days off work to take me to Southpoint and the Green sands Beach, also volcanoes national Park and the waterfalls around the Hilo! It is also a very short distance to the Famous Punalu'u bakery! I can't wait to go Back!!! I highly recommend for an off grid camping experience with a few nice amenities!!
