Yurt stays with wild swimming and views of Glastonbury Tor

Magical, tranquil and beautiful – just some of the words guests use to describe the experience of staying at Glastonbury Wild Glamping. And we wholeheartedly agree. After all, this boutique and bohemian glamping site sits in Somerset countryside with views of one of the most mystical locations in the UK. You can set out on foot from here and walk up Glastonbury Tor or into the town at the foot of it to dip your feet into healing waters, visit King Arthur’s tomb and generally soak up the atmosphere of its free-spirited high street. It’s a magical place to explore and Glastonbury Wild Glamping is an equally magical place to stay.

You stay in a yurt, you cook in an outdoor kitchen, you can have a campfire and you can wild swim in a pond. If you like things on the wild side this is pretty luxurious and if you like things luxurious this is pretty wild. Sure, you sleep in a kingsize bed that’s been made-up for you but you have to tip-toe across the field for the shower or loo, which is composting by the way. These facilities are shared between guests along with that outdoor camp kitchen but, as there are only two yurts on site, there’s never a queue. Your yurt maybe Mongolian in style but its decor is inspired by India. Like Glastonbury itself, your accommodation is colourful, quirky and eclectic. It's off grid and eco-friendly and it’s warmed by a log burner too.

Your hosts here are the lovely Fin and Sarah. They also manage a couple of holiday cottages within their land which lies on the tor side of town. Both are a walk away if you’re keen for a hike of a couple of miles or it's a 10-minute drive if you’ve got the car. It’s likely that it’s Glastonbury that you’re here for, but beyond town there’s plenty more of Somerset to see. Wells is a short drive, Cheddar and its famous gorge is slightly further.

Stunning location, gorgeous yurt.
We absolutely loved this place, and didn't want to leave! It's truly magical, would highly recommend. The site is just stunning, with a view of the Tor across the meadows and even from your bed. Such a peaceful location, we adored waking up to birdsong every morning. The yurt itself is beautiful with a very comfortable bed, and the owners couldn't have been lovelier. Thanks so much, we'll be back again soon!

Glastonbury Wild Glamping offers two beautiful 18ft yurts tucked away in a wildflower meadow overlooking the historic Glastonbury Tor. The site is in a magical location and provides the perfect opportunity to switch off and find total peace and tranquillity. There is natural wild swimming pond, shower facilities with hot water, compost toilets, and and a shared outside kitchen, with cutlery, pans, fridge, camping hob. The Yurts are furnished with India-inspired interiors and offer panoramic and uninterrupted views of Glastonbury Tor from your luxury super king sized bed! Crisp warm linen, wood burner and hot water bottles for the chillier nights. This is an opportunity to switch off your devises and stay connected to nature and your surroundings and totally re charge.
Nearby attractions

Glastonbury Wild Camping is in the hamlet of Coxbridge. It’s two miles to Glastonbury Tor, a prominent hill with a 15th-century tower atop it that can be seen from miles around. It is a site of spiritual significance both for Pagans and Christians and has lots of legends associated with it. No matter what you believe – there are great views of the surrounding Somerset Levels from the top so it is well worth taking a walk up it. At the foot of the Tor, you can visit the White Spring and the Chalice Well; two sources of supposedly healing waters. Somerset Rural Life Museum is also nearby and you can walk a little further into Glastonbury town (just under four miles from the glamping site). The high street is full of quirky independent shops and eateries and the remains of Glastonbury Abbey are in peaceful grounds in the heart of town. Wells, the UK’s smallest city, is 10 miles from site. There you can visit the cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace. It’s sits on the edge of the Mendip Hills with Wookey Hole about a mile out of Wells and more caves and a dramatic limestone gorge a bit further away at Cheddar (17 miles).

Food and drink

The closest pub to Glastonbury Wild Glamping is The Greyhound at Baltonsborough, just over a mile away. It’s a drinks – and cash – only place so head into Glastonbury for more choice. Perhaps try The Queen of Cups for Middle-Eastern small plates or Gigi’s for pizza and pasta. There are plenty of independent shops in town including a great ethical, eco friendly supermarket, Earthfare. There’s also Middlewick Farm Shop on the outskirts of town for local produce with a cafe serving breakfasts, brunches and lunches. For a traditional Somerset inn, your best bet is to travel out of town – perhaps to The Red Lion at Babcary (seven miles) where there’s a good menu of pub and modern classics.
