Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home in nature at some pitches — including real toilets, showers, and kitchen.
Adult-only camping and glamping within striking distance of Totnes and the South Devon coast.

Spacious camping pitches, a quirky repurposed circus wagon, and a retro-styled cabin await guests at Gatcombe Park Farm, as do the alpacas happily grazing in the field adjacent to this one-of-a-kind campsite. Located just outside the historical South Devon town of Totnes, the English Riviera and its beaches are within reach, as are the fluffy heads of the farm’s adorable animal friends. There aren’t many sites that let you enjoy a cream tea next to an alpaca herd. It's an experience you’ll quickly get accustomed to here.

Fourteen grass pitches are situated in Gatcombe’s south-facing paddock along with spaces for motorhomes, all kept strictly adults-only for a more grown-up holiday. The glamping options are wonderfully unique, exemplified by a traditional showman’s circus wagon that has been completely restored and modernised, now a self-contained tiny home with a spacious living area along with scenic outdoor decking. The cosy timber cabin and the tipi next to a landscaped pond – complete with a swinging bench from which to admire it – round out its luxury camping alternatives, and it’s well-equipped with shared amenities such as heated showers and flushing toilets. The south-facing field means that you’ll be in prime position for the sun, and a barbecue is provided for glampers to take full advantage of the weather.

Two popular country pubs can be reached in under a 10-minute walk, while the River Dart is a little further on – slip in for some wild swimming if you’re brave enough, or bring your kayak to explore this 47-mile stretch of water. The town of Totnes is a short drive away, a lively hub of small independent retailers, cafés, and restaurants. But with this being South Devon, chances are you’re in the market for some sea and sunshine – so it’s a good thing some of the region’s best beaches are on your doorstep. Paignton and Torquay are within a 20-minute drive away, these seaside towns being an ideal destination for a day out, while the gorgeous, award-winning countryside beach of Broadsands is also close by.

A little oasis on the edge of Totnes. This beautiful site has a fabulous services for a people staying. Including a tea and coffee, shared fridge and fresh eggs. Not to mention the fabulous Alpacas. The owners made us very welcome. Despite being accessed from a busy lane - there is a nice green lanes and paths from the site to local pubs and into Totnes avoiding the traffic. We will be back

Site 1 - Motorhome Pitch up-to VW Crater
Camping, Alpacas & Peacocks
The site is very well maintained and organised and the limited number of pitches means you’re not just rammed into a field. The facilities were good and as there are no children the site is very quiet so you can get lost in the sounds of nature (and the occasional passing car). Our hosts were very welcoming and it was nice to see the Alpacas and resident peacock.

Gatcombe Park Farm is settled only five minutes from Totnes, and a short drive from stunning beaches. This adults-only glamping site offers the perfect base for exploring South Devon from a unique Alpaca farm. Choose from grass pitches, a cosy tipi, a beautifully restored Traditional Circus Showman’s wagon that has been tastefully fitted with modern fittings , or the retro cabin which can also be added to the showman subject to availability for extra sleeping, Find this friendly site nestled only a short drive from local beaches, Salcombe, Bantham beach, Paignton and the English Riviera and just five minutes away from bustling Totnes. With an iconic coastline and rolling hills, there's plenty to explore throughout beautiful Devon. Spacious grass pitches are available next to the alpaca's paddock. The tipi tent offers a cosy double bed, outdoor furniture, and a fire pit, with wood available to buy on site. The tipi can be upgraded to four at request. Food and drink

The Pig and Whistle is an easy five-minute walk up the road from the site. A traditional roadside pub with a large outdoor seating area, it also boasts a good reputation locally on account of its award-winning food. A 10-minute walk northwest of the site is Tally Ho, a country pub tucked away in Littlehempson village with an ‘olde worlde’ aesthetic, also award-winning with its classic pub menu. Head into Totnes for some relaxed fine dining at Gather, on the pricey side but well worth it thanks to a menu consisting of ‘foraged’ ingredients from the fields, shore, and local rivers.

Nearby attractions

The River Dart is accessible in a 15-minute walk, a huge stretch of water in which you can go wild swimming or take a kayak/stand-up paddleboard to explore it. For exploration by foot, Dartmoor National Park is a 15-minute drive, an expansive 386 square miles of diverse landscape. Cyclists are encouraged to bring their bikes, while the Dartmoor rivers provide plenty of trout and salmon for fishing. Totnes is a great spot for shopping, only a five-minute drive from the site and boasting a number of independent retailers to support, along with art galleries to peruse and a market. Beachgoers can take a trip out to Torquay, Babbacombe, and Paignton, all within 25 minutes away, or further out is Banthanm beach, an award-winning stretch of sand that’s an ideal spot for watersports including surfing.
