The Ferncliff Lodge Van Site
Very convenient location and nice area. Unfortunately we weren't told there was no portapotty anymore as it was removed for the winter and we were camping right next to the parked cars from the cabin guests which didn't feel very private.

The Ferncliff Lodge Van Site
Overall, we had a good night, but the listing was a little misleading. The listing could use more photos for accurate representation including the close proximity to the road and other rental cabins. Future campers be advised you will be camping close to town with other people close by. The site could be improved with clean up and removal of tools and ladder. There is a dumpster nearby that a bear opened overnight which we could hear throughout the night. That being said the fire pit and pavilion made for a nice cozy night. The site was private and close to nearby supply store.

Pretty good
We enjoyed our time at the site. We haven’t camped in CO much and this was a good intro spot. We car camped with a car tent. The gazebo is cute and has a fire pit to use when allowed. The portapotty could use some attention but definitely not the worst I’ve seen- overall thankful for it! If you use this space as intented- a van spot than it’s 10/10.

Messy and loud
Good location for RMNP but lots of problems with cleanliness. A bear broke into the dumpster, which wasn’t the hosts fault, but he only cleaned up part of the mess so for the rest of the week there was trash everywhere and so many chipmunks. The mess meant the campground was overrun with flies too. Also there was construction going on with septic installations and clearing land behind us. The workers were nice but it wasn’t the relaxing camping experience it should have been. It was just very disappointing with a dirty and noisy experience.

Messy and loud
The location was good and the host was friendly but the messy campsite caused us problems with wildlife. The first night a bear broke into the dumpster which was about 50 yards from our campsite. Clearly that was not the fault of the host, but of the person who left it open. But the next day, the host cleaned up only part of the mess, and there was trash remaining for the rest of the time we were there, about 4 days. My husband pointed out an entire area that still had trash but Ben left without cleaning it up. There were also dozens of chipmunks everywhere. Probably due to the trash all around. After we left, we realized that one had gotten up into our car. Fortunately, he did not do too much damage. Then there was another problem with all of the construction. There was a backhoe and two or three workers who were installing a septic system all day for two or three days. They were not excessively noisy, but for a camp situation we wanted privacy and peace. Then behind us, in another field, a worker was clearing the land with heavy machinery. He was about 15 feet away from us. There was just a lot of dust and noise. I honestly can’t believe they charged us full price during a time when there was so much construction and mess going on. I think it’s a good idea to have a Hipcamp here, but the host needs to do more to make it a pleasant experience.
