Tranqvillium was purchased in 2016 with the intention of creating Gaia Earthen Technologies Sustainable Living Educational and Research Center. Construction started in 2016 and now we have our first temporary building and working on the others. The daily operation is run by Tranqvillium, an intentional community of people who don't like to spend their money on rent and utility bills. Learn more about this land: The location is about an hour west of Las Vegas in the California Mojave Desert. Even though the lights of Vegas are visible on the Eastern horizon, above Tranqvillium there is no light pollution and the entirety of the visible part of the Milky Way is shining down on us. Tecopa Hot Springs is 30 min West from us, along with China Ranch date farm. From China ranch it's a 40 min hike through Mars like terrain to a swimming hole complete with a small waterfall, where the Amargosa River comes above ground. The ancient lake bed where Tranqvillium is located is surrounded by medium height mountains, which are perfect for rock scrambling, and the world famous Red Rock climbing site is nearby too. The place is very rugged and is recommended for experienced campers who are not taken aback by wilderness living.

More than a camp site!
I loved camping out under the clear night sky and stargazing. The atmosphere was wonderful and Eric is a phenomenal host with an amazing vision. I will be camping here again.

Rough Road
Road to area was not well maintained. Sustained damage to RV trying to get there. Gave up because host did not send email turn-by-turn directions as promised, and did not answer phone calls. His voicemail box was full. On exiting, he called because I left email before leaving, but it was too late.

A unique place to stay!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful camping spot with a breathtaking view of snowy mountains. One of the standout aspects of my trip was definitely the exceptional host, Erik, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. He even lent us his telescope so we could stargaze at night! What really made this camping spot special was the perfect combination of stunning natural beauty and privacy. Despite being close to nature, we felt secluded and had plenty of space to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. The eco-friendly bio toilet was also a major plus, as it demonstrated the campsite's commitment to sustainability and minimizing their impact on the environment. Speaking of sustainability, Erik is actually working on a unique project nearby that focuses on sustainable living. It's definitely worth checking out if you're interested in that sort of thing. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this camping spot and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and environmentally conscious getaway. Many thanks to Erik for being such an exceptional host!

Beautiful Sky
The views of the sky are stunning, the remoteness of the place is stunning. You will love the pups. Make sure to follow the directions they will send you, definitely bring water.

Erik’s hospitality was wonderful. He brought us firewood after finding out we didn’t have any. We weren’t sure if we wanted to do the waterfall tour but he was very flexible offering to take us around our time preference. The surrounding things to explore were so fun! The night sky was breathtaking. This is in the open desert. No shade. He’s building a sustainable community so there are building materials around. If you want to wake up and open your tent to lush greenery this is not the spot. If you love hanging in the desert by night and exploring by day this was such a wonderful experience!

Gorgeous view, lovely host!
Erik was a fantastic host; I had a great time at the waterfall and hot springs tour—definitely recommend doing them one after the other so you can get a good walk in before enjoying the swim at the waterfall and the hot springs later on. I got so many lovely pictures of the stars, it’s one of the few times in my life I’ve actually seen the Milky Way. The weather was nice, too. Only thing I’d say is it gets pretty windy especially at night, so make sure you bring appropriate shelter and heavy tent stakes that you can use to keep your tent from flying away :P I’d love to come back again some time!
