Discover the magic of Slide Ranch spending the night overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Slide Ranch offers camping so we can offer full scholarships to students for summer camps and other programs throughout the year. We really appreciate your support! Upon your arrival, we will provide roomy wheelbarrows to easily bring your personal items to our Dome Campsite area which overlooks the Pacific Ocean (about 10 minutes, mostly-flat hike). Check in 2pm / Check out 12pm Tents and gear are not included; please bring and pitch your own tents. Bring your own food (there is a cooler and dry food storage container) or plan to enjoy dining in Muir Beach. Let us know if you would like more information. Please note that we do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. Porta-potties or composting toilets are available around the property. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. There is no running water at the Dome but there will be containers of water out there for use in hand washing, dish washing, and limited for drinking. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Please plan to bring any snacks or picnic items you’d like to enjoy while enjoying the ranch. Per GGNRA regulations, camp fires and open flames of any kind are not allowed out at the campsite meadow or inside the Geodesic Dome as there is no running water. Amazing camping experience
Tent
Loved this site! It was my first time backpacking ever and first time solo camping. I felt very safe as a woman by herself due to the proximity of other campers and families. There wasn’t any sort of check in process though and it wasn’t clear where the trail went so I got lost for a while. The hike in is around 10-15 mins and is absolutely gorgeous. I loved my time here and I will definitely come back!

What an incredibly beautiful spot. The folks who were there were so helpful. My cousin was here from Germany, and got to watch the sunset over the Pacific for the first time ever at this stunning site. Would pack a little lighter next time, but DEFINITELY coming back.

Gorgeous, not car camping
Tent
It's hard to ask for a more gorgeous place to camp. The view overlooking the Pacific Ocean is incredible. The spot is remote which means it’s quiet. All you hear is ocean waves and animal calls. Great base camp for exploring Mt. Tam, Muir Woods, Muir Beach. It’s right next to the ocean so be prepared for lots of condensation in your tent, especially if you have a single wall. Composting toilet is convenient for pooping but you can’t pee in it. Finding a nearby bush that wasn’t visible from any of the campsites/kitchen was a bit of a challenge. Kitchen has a good stove and plates/utensils/cookware but no mugs or cups. It also has basins, soap, and jugs of non-potable water for dishes. However, there’s no potable water so you have to carry in everything you need or be prepared to walk back out to the trailhead for refills. Speaking of, the campsite’s nearly a half mile from the parking lot over an uneven dirt trail along the side of the hill. It’s a very pleasant 10 minute walk if you’re unencumbered. It's mostly flat but just barely wide enough for the provided wheelbarrows which I didn’t use but saw in action. Even with the wheelbarrows, I wouldn’t bring a typical car camping setup here. I hiked in with my backpacking pack as well as a daypack and 5L of water which was fine but I’ll definitely pack lighter next time. In hindsight, this is a great, low-stakes place to test a backpacking setup. I can’t wait to come back!

Ocean Front Camping
Tent
I loved Slide Ranch Dome Meadow! It was a super beautiful place right on the ocean front. Campers should be aware tho that the site is a bit far from the parking lot (about 1/2 mile) which was no issue for me but families and people with any disabilities should be aware. The dome (Kitchen) was rustic had the minimum but yet useful equipments (I did not use need to use it). I am definitely going back and I highly recommend it.
