The rugged terrain of far northern California is one of the few mostly untouched places left to retreat to. Come dwarf yourself under the magnificent giant redwoods and be struck with awe by the mesmerizing jade colored Smith River.  The property is a mere 20 minutes from some of the world's tallest trees. Come check out Stout Grove, a rarely crowded gem of the Redwood National and State Parks. The grove is a part of Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park which is the least developed and most impressive park of the four.  From your campsite you will have a lovely view of a large bend of the Smith River. It boasts impressive runs of chinook and steelhead, and is host to many other native species. Keep an eye out for bear, mink, and otters! And secure any food or attractants at night.  Our property gives you the chance to disconnect from daily life and recalibrate. Use our site as an extended getaway for some peace and quiet, or a launch point to the variety of local attractions. Find us on Instagram- @campjaderiver! Kick up your feet on our platform overlooking the beautiful Smith River and enjoy the only undammed watershed in California. The platform is large enough for most tents if you'd like to sleep with a front-row view. Meadow space is also available for tents, and there is parking for camper vans and trailers. Escape to our campsite for the perfect springboard to the breathtaking natural landscapes found only on California's rugged north coast.  You will have two acres of waterfront all to yourself. There are neighboring properties but folks generally keep to themselves. We are slowly rehabbing the property into an off-grid haven. Come spend time on the river and enjoy our swimming holes, open meadow, oak grove, and cozy fire pit. Make sure you bring lamps and lanterns for camping the old-fashioned way, utilizing our clean water spigots and pit toilet that keep us off-grid!  The property is surrounded by hiking trails, biking trails, swimming spots, fishing holes, and more! Within 30 minutes we have the magnificent redwoods forests, dramatic northern California beaches, wonderful restaurants and breweries, and all the in town amenities you could need. If you have specific interests, feel free to reach out for recommendations.  The north coast is both an adventure-center and a place to relax and disconnect from the distractions of our busy lives. The property is a few miles up the south fork of the Smith River which is a doorway to the Smith River National Recreation Area. You won't have cell phone service at the site, but can get that and anything else you might need just a few miles away in Hiouchi.  Dogs are welcome to enjoy our space too! We encourage you to bring your pets. Leashes are not required but bear in mind our land is not completely fenced. Please have your pet under voice control for their safety and as courtesy to nearby landowners.

Camp Jade River
Ideal for traveling with dogs!
We loved the peace and quiet at Tyler's campsite. There was the added peace of mind that our dogs could roam freely and safely on 2 acres of land. You still have to keep an eye on them but allowing them to be off leash made them feel free and comfortable to just hang close to the campfire with us. Even though there are neighbors on either side, you would never know because of the sound of the river and peaceful silence at night. Simply relaxing. Thank you, Tyler!

Camp Jade River
Magickal relaxing spot!
This was a serene and magickal location on the Smith River. Absolute must tent on the deck so you can hear the water! The little trails down to the river are climbers and steep but absolutely worth it! Felt very private nestled down near the firepit and deck.amongst the grouping of trees. Beautiful drive in and close to the Northern Redwoods and Crescent city making it convienient. Would love to come back sometime!

Camp Jade River
We loved the beautiful secluded location looking down on the crystal clear blue-green (jade) water, the extra touches-the deck overlooking the river, the level with chairs and table, as well as he upper level for tent and picnic table.

Camp Jade River
Perfect Redwoods Roadtrip campsite!
We had a great time at Camp Jade River! Beautifully situated just along the river and with a fenced private yard, it was exactly what we needed to be a home base for our Redwoods Roadtrip. Would definitely recommend! As a note - the riverbank is steep and rocky and very slippery if there's been any rain or moisture. It's beautiful and serene but not ideal for small children or anyone who isn't sure footed. The deck and fire pit area are lovely and you get all the good camp vibes. Toilet is super nice to have as well! Entry to the gravel drive is a bit steep and there is a drop-off between where the asphalt road meets the gravel drive so take it slow and be mindful if you have a low clearance vehicle. We had breakfast at the Hiouchi cafe one morning and it was delicious. There's also a little market/liquor store at Hiouchi and it's a good place for last minute stop to grab snacks and check your cell phone before you lose service. There is plenty of open sky at the campsite if you have a star link to set up. Ours worked great.

Camp Jade River
Tyler’s land was a great spot for us to rest between days hiking through the redwoods! We took a dip in the river, and enjoyed the picnic table down by the water- and the deck overlook is an awesome spot!
