Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in.
The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type.
Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you.
Note: There are no ground fires permitted and at certain times of the year Qld Rural Fire brigade may enforce a total fire ban.
We have our “Caffeine Injection” kiosk on-site for the weekends and school holidays. Get your morning caffeine fix as well as bagged ice, firewood, ice creams, snacks, cold drinks etc etc
Then we have the old school principals residence aka “The Bush Holiday House“. It is fully self-contained and all linen is provided.
Just BYO food & drinks. We offer this for one night stays and longer.
Jimna is a tiny town immersed in the Australian bush; with nearby gorges, ravines, creeks and waterfalls - some wild & spectacular places to see.
What better place to base yourself and explore our part of the Conondale National Park, Jimna State Forest... be it on foot, horseback, motorcycle, 4x4 or mountain bike!!
Holiday/Peak Season rates may vary.
Absolutely an amazing place to camp, relax and enjoy the surroundings. My 30th birthday was spent here at the base camp and I set up a “Australian Survivor” weekend for the friends that came.
Pete was very helpful, informative and interested in what was going on. I would recommend this camp ground to anyone that will listen.
Thank you very much Pete, i will be seeing you again soon!
Pete is an absolute legend. A great host. Jimna Basecamp is a wonderful spot with everything you need. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Thank you for having us.
The amenities were great. The host and locals were friendly. A great little creek not too far down the road which would be a lovely swimming spot in summer
This is one of the best campsite with very friendly host, clean and well maintenance amenity include few clean flush toilets, hot water shower and kitchen appliance that you can use. It is definitely a great experience and the host, Pete share a lot of local story with us and his coffee is the best in Jimna. :D
We will definitely return and recommended to who have family with kids and pets.
(Just don't bring the Karaoke machine here. :P)
