1 site · Lodging12 acres · Margaret River, WA
A luxurious bush bath, campfire and huge private bell tent are all yours at this truly memorable farm stay in the heart of Margaret River wine country. Relax in your cosy, luxuriously appointed 6m tent (with power), private outdoor shower, kitchenette, wildlife and trails. Designer linens, queen bed & comfy Zeek hybrid mattress, electric blanket, Bluetooth speaker, kitchenette, library, artisan produce options - even woolly socks! We strive to exceed your highest expectations of comfort. Welcome to what we call bush luxe: a breath-taking bell tent filled with sumptuous furnishings, books, artisanal cafe station and ephemera from a bygone era of travel. In the vein of luxury African safari camps, our tented stay evokes a unique and authentically Australian feel through carefully curated contemporary Australian design and vintage styling. Every comfort is thoughtfully provided for all seasons. In winter, the queen-sized bed is fitted with a lofty mattress topper and electric blanket and there's a generous supply of Australian wool shawls and tent socks for your further comfort. For summer, a portable air conditioner has been installed. (Please note that daytime temperatures inside the tent can be very warm without air conditioning and hard to cool on very hot days, although late afternoon and nights tend to be much cooler). Relax in our bush bath (hot and cold water) in a private grove of peppermint gums under the giant karri trees. We provide the region's best artisanal cafe station: Margaret River Roasting Co plunger coffee, choice of Seven Seas Teas (Cowaramup), Bahen and Co (Margaret River) hot chocolate and real milk. A large icebox and ice is provided for all your regional food, wine and craft beer finds (or can be stocked with gourmet options, please enquire) and your kitchenette provides for all your self-catering requirements: fine glassware, Falcon enamel dinnerware, Stanley and Rogers cutlery, non-stick cookware, a gas burner, utensils and more. A Weber Q barbecue and gas bottle is at your tent site, and campfire cooking with supplied equipment is an option in season. Firewood is supplied for your traditional campfire (subject to seasonal fire restrictions - please see important note below before booking) ... we can light it and provide tips to keep it going if it's not normally your thing! Local blacksmith James Huston forged the cooking tripod and fire tools, there's a billy for traditional tea-and-damper-making and cast iron cookware is also available. Mobile signal is strong (wifi unavailable), although we think you'll love turning off your devices for this nature experience. Your campsite is situated on our family property five minutes south of Margaret River town in the heart of premium wine country - we're just down the road from Voyager, Leeuwin and Xanadu Estates. Gourmet Glamp is operated by our renowned gourmet adventure company, Walk Talk Taste Margaret River. Our own vineyard produces a small-batch, minimal intervention Bordeaux- style cabernet blend which you are welcome to taste when available. Free-range eggs are also available on request or as part of our local gourmet options (please enquire). The site is adjacent to a walking and cycling trail, the beautiful Wadandi Track - a wide former railway reserve which serviced the region's once-booming timber industry. You can get all the way to town without crossing a road (or the charming hamlet of Witchcliffe in the opposite direction). Additional gourmet options are available when booked in advance - choose from an epic brunch hamper of premium regional produce, barbecue box, a picnic box/platter or a bottle of the excellent Idee Fixe sparkling on ice for arrival or by the outdoor bath. While the campsite is very private, it is sited approximately 60 metres from our family home and working vineyard, separated by dense peppermint gums. There may be occasional need for machinery to be used in the vineyard during your stay (tractor, pump, sprayer etc). To ensure a peaceful stay we will communicate with guests in an endeavour to minimise any disturbance. We are very mindful of guest privacy and will not intrude unless invited. We are only too happy to respond to any questions or requirements, but ask that during your stay you phone or text us rather than approach the main private residence. Please note that we have two super-friendly staffordshire terriers - Banjo and Mabel - and free range chickens on the property. While we strive to keep them away from your campsite, we can't guarantee against a rogue visit! Please let us know if this concerns you. ***IMPORTANT CAMPFIRE NOTE****: fire restrictions exist in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River from late spring to early autumn. Due to extreme dry conditions, full prohibition is currently extended until April 30, 2024, and may be extended further. NO CAMPFIRES are allowed in the prohibited fire period. Please ensure you check with us for current restrictions BEFORE BOOKING and during your stay if you wish to have a campfire. You can stay up to date by checking the Augusta Margaret River shire website (external link not permitted here) - We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all travellers, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. We are participating in a soon-to-be-launched pilot accreditation program to ensure that every guest feels safe, respected, and valued. - The campsite is approximately 60 metres and partly visible from a road. The road is generally very quiet but passing traffic to nearby wineries may increase on occasion ie. long weekends. - Our camp toilet is a commercial portable toilet. This has been selected as the best option for guest hygiene, comfort and to ensure no permanent infrastructure impacts our very important remnant bush habitat. It is meticulously cleaned and maintained. - All water on tap is fresh, filtered rainwater from our domestic tank. It is the best drinking water you will find so there is no need to bring bottled water! We do not have town water and ask that guests are mindful of this limited supply when showering or using the bath, especially in the current extreme dry period (April 2024) - This experience is strictly adults only and is limited to a maximum of two guests. - Two very friendly Staffordshire terriers live on the property and may occasionally visit.
