The property has two dams, it is well treed with large open parts and has a beautiful view to Mount Macedon. Kangaroos, possums and echidnas also live here. You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay (as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards). The rate includes a small tour of our farm sanctuary. Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for.  Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. The property is defined by an ancient water course that cuts a 1km ravine through the property. During the winter the dry boulder-strewn gorge is transformed with waterfalls and cascades along its length and regardless of the season transports you to another time and place. There is limited solar power (enough for phones and laptops) and low flow water (enough to brush your teeth). Neither is guaranteed to be available. A wood stove heats the hut, boils the kettle and cooks your dinner; firewood is included. An open outdoor bathroom includes a sink, bath and drop toilet. Hot water is available but not promised. The hut is fenced and well-behaved dogs are welcome. This property is suited to resourceful guests who are familiar with lighting fires, swinging an axe and understanding rural courtesies. The abundance of wildlife is used to peace so if you are taking a dog with you then please keep it within eyesight and always under your control.
