Ideally located for the mountain bike adventurer, with the world renowned Maydena Bike Park right on our doorstep.
We are also surrounded by both Mt Field and South West National Parks as well as the Styx and Florentine valleys, home to some of Australia's tallest trees. Enjoy any number of activities including bushwalking, trout fishing, kayaking or simply just taking in the stunning views.
We are offering self contained caravan accommodation as well as a private camp site for up to 2 vehicles. Campers must have their own amenities if staying at the campground, as there is no shower or toilet facilities. Nearest toilet and dump station is 1km away in the Maydena township. There are only basic supplies to be had at the post office, open Mon to Fri, so get all major supplies before arrival. There is a cafe and restaurant option as well.
We are pet friendly however all pets must be kept under control to keep the wildlife safe.
Campfires are permitted in our allocated fireplace except on days of total fire ban. Bring your own firewood or prebook a wheelbarrow full.

Located an hours drive North West of Hobart near the quaint little town of Ouse (pronounced - ooze) and set on the pristine Derwent River. Like so many of the towns on the Derwent River, this region is very popular with bushwalkers, fishing enthusiasts, and mountain bike riders.
Overlooking the "pot-belly" of the Derwent River, This place is a fishing and kayaking heaven . Have a swim in summer, kayak or go for an adventure on your mountain bike. There are two kayaks and two SUPs you are welcome to use. And there is a boat ramp just a few kms down the road to launch your boat.
The Bunkhouse is a beautifully built structure, with large windows and plenty of space. It's two storey, with the upper open-plan level accommodating 8 people in single bunk beds. A further two guests can sleep on the large sofa bed downstairs.
The bunkhouse is fully self-contained with a kitchenette, toilet and shower.Clean sheets and blankets . Wi- Fi and streamed TV movie channels Please note - this is not the ritz! Step onto your private deck and sink into the clawfoot bath. Pop the bubbles and gaze out over the rolling hills to kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Enjoy a picnic among the grapevines and watch the ladybirds, and as the sun goes down, slip into the wood-fire sauna and melt into the heat. Cozy up around the firepit and watch the stars twinkle.

Welcome to our patch of paradise. We’re Alice and Jason and our family has been farming this piece of Tasmanian bushland for decades. Aquila is named after the Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagle (Aquila audax fleayi), which we often see soaring over our land. We are deeply passionate about this land and the natural resources the earth and sun provide. It’s our pleasure to share these values through off-grid glamping and eco experiences that offer ultimate luxury and comfort in a unique country setting of space and freedom.

Maydena Alpine Retreat is a boutique couples escape offering quiet luxury in Tasmania's south-west wilderness. The retreat features a luxury cabin with refined interiors, a deep outdoor bath and sweeping forest and mountain views that create a sense of calm from the moment guests arrive.
This is an adults only retreat (18+), no children allowed.
Visitors experience a stay designed for rest, privacy and connection to nature. Large picture windows frame the shifting light across the valley, while warm, natural textures and thoughtful design enhance comfort. The cabin sits on 1.7 private acres, giving guests space and tranquillity in a peaceful, natural setting.
Located around one hour and fifteen minutes from Hobart, Maydena Alpine Retreat is close to some of Tasmania's most remarkable landscapes. Guests can explore Mount Field National Park with its cascading waterfalls, mountain lakes and ancient alpine forests. They can wander among the towering trees of the Styx Valley, or venture further to Lake Pedder and the Gordon Dam. For adventure, the retreat is near the world-class Maydena Bike Park, and Tassie Bound Adventure Tours offer guided kayaking with the chance to see platypus in their natural habitat.
After days filled with exploration, guests return to a contemporary, elegant space created for deep relaxation and slow, restorative moments. Adults-only. Non-smoking property.

The Barn from early 1900 has been restored to create a touch of luxury to your rural escape. The Barn is spacious with cathedral ceiling in main living space and exposed beams in the bedrooms.

Maree and Andrew's caravan was a perfect fit for what I needed. A comfy bed, lounge seating, small kitchen and a beautiful property. Secluded enough but within walking distance of the Maydena centre. They were also great to chat to and very accommodating of anything I needed. Highly recommended!

Nice BIG Unpowered Camp Site, Convenient location to everything in Port Arthur, Shower has electronic timer on it for 5 minutes, for the price of this HipCamp this should be removed.
All other amenities are good. Toilet block needs cleaning more often.

Weekend Trip to Nature's Edge
We had a lovely time staying in the caravan. We had family members who brought their own caravans and they were also on the property only a 100 metres away from Maree and Andrew’s caravan. This enabled us all to enjoy 40th birthday celebrations together. It was a very picturesque place to stay and we really enjoyed the surroundings. Maree and Andrew were very welcoming and available if we needed anything.

What a great find! And so close to Maydena, we loved our stay here. So quiet and the comfiest beds ever. Loved the option of cooking outside on the table and enjoying the views. Great secure storage for our bikes and Andrew & Maree such great hosts. We will definitely be back.

The camping space is really lovely, well organized, and well signposted, with great hot showers and good toilets, wild animals around, power points for the campervans are very good and easy to use, the receptionist is really very friendly, my husband and I spent the night and made a campfire, we had visits from birds and wallabies, it was a great experience.
