Hikers, bikers, and foodies are welcome at this town in the southern Flinders Ranges.
Just off the main road from Adelaide to Port Augusta, Wirrabara sits in the foothills of the southern Flinders Ranges, surrounded by farmlands, fruit orchards, and forests. In town, campers can check into a Wirrabara caravan park, which has spacious powered sites with showers and fire pits within walking distance of town, or opt to drive out a little farther for more private campsites with space for caravans and tents. Once you’ve admired the colourful silo art, played a game of golf, or picked up some farm-fresh produce from the popular Wirrabara Producers Market, head just west of town. Wirrabara Range Conservation Park has scenic woodland trails where you can hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride before pitching a tent or parking your caravan at the state-run campground. To the north, Mount Remarkable National Park boasts some of the region’s best mountain biking trails, as well as bushwalking tracks and a choice of bush campgrounds, cabin rentals, and lodge accommodations.
