Hike, fish, and camp along the wild coast of the Yorke Peninsula.
Whether you’re taking a road trip around the rugged Yorke Peninsula, cruising the coast in a small boat, or seeking a quiet spot to camp away from the crowds, Port Julia is one of the region’s most underrated seaside towns. Tucked between Black Point and Port Victoria, it has a sandy swimming beach, a jetty, and a boat ramp, making it a popular spot for in-the-know sailors and anglers. From September through April, this is one of the best places on the peninsula for crabbing, along with squid, Australian herring, and eagle rays. Alternatively, follow the Walk the Yorke hiking trail along the coast or head south to the beaches and bushwalking trails of Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park. The only place to camp in town is the bush campground by Reichenbach Park, which has toilets, BBQ areas, and non-potable water, but for powered sites, check into a nearby holiday park or Hipcamp instead.
