Camp near this tree-lined town by the Barossa Valley vineyards.
Settled by Scottish settlers and named after a Scottish port, Greenock sits at the edge of the Barossa Valley wine region, less than an hour’s drive northeast of Adelaide. Simple pleasures await campers that make Greenock their home for a night or two. Stroll the tree-lined streets, enjoy lunch at a traditional country pub, then stop by the town’s cellar-door wineries for a tasting. Popular Barossa Valley spots such as Murray Street Vineyards, Alkina Wine Estate, and Ballycroft Vineyard are all just a short walk from town, but for a longer hike, the epic 750-mile (1,200-kilometre) Heysen Trail runs right past the town. There’s a basic camping area in town for self-contained RVs and campervans, which has restrooms and BBQ areas. Alternatively, check into one of the holiday parks or tourist parks in neighbouring Tanunda or Nuriootpa, which have powered sites and family-friendly amenities.
