Bluegums Farm, Bordertown

10 sites · RVs11 acres · Bordertown, SA
At Bluegums Farm, 2km outside of Bordertown, you'll be surrounded by animals with supervised interaction with clydesdale horses, camels, sheep, cows and occasionally puppies! At certain times of the year the clydesdales will be in harness putting on a draught display. Campers are set up in a large open area, with both grassy and sandy options, suitable for tents and caravans/campers, with some areas more off-road and private than others. Upon arrival, you are welcome to choose your spot. As well as plenty to do on and around the property, there is a great bike track from the farm into Bordertown town, and we are also just walking distance from the town pool. We have no facilities here so you need to be self-sufficient with your own toilet. We do however provide firewood for the campfire. You are also welcome to bring your pet along, so long as they're kept under control and don't disturb our animals.

Camping near Bordertown guide

Overview

Bordertown missed its mark by about 20 kilometres—the small town sits firmly within South Australian state lines, about a 15-minute drive from the actual border of Victoria. It turns out that this was intentional—when Bordertown was established back in the Gold Rush of 1852, the “border” it referred to was Tatiara Creek, across which gold was transported on its way to Adelaide. Technicalities aside, the rural hub still remains a popular pitstop for road-trippers and campers, set along the Dukes Highway (A8) between Adelaide and Melbourne. For a Bordertown camping stop, check into the caravan park, which has powered sites and cabin rentals, or park your self-contained campervan or caravan by Bordertown Recreation Lake. While you’re in town, you can spot western grey kangaroos at Bordertown Wildlife Park, step back in time at the Clayton Farm Heritage Museum, and visit the Bob Hawke Museum, devoted to the former Australian prime minister, who was born in Bordertown.
