This Riverland retreat provides plenty of ways to get on the water during your camping trip.
The Murray River twists and turns its way through the heart of the Riverland, pumping water into the lush wetlands, lakes, and lagoons around Barmera. Just north of town, Lake Bonney has sandy swimming beaches, fishing jetties, boat ramps, and ample space for kayaking, water skiing, windsurfing, and stand-up paddleboarding. There’s even a lakeside golf course. If you like to pitch your tent or park your campervan by water, Barmera camping is also available. Check into a holiday park or caravan park with powered sites and a dump point, get back to nature at a simple bush campground, rent a lakeside cabin, or snag a tranquil caravan site right on the lakefront. You can also combine wine tasting and bird-watching at the nearby Banrock Station Wine & Wetlands Centre, go bushwalking at Moorook Game Reserve, or follow canoeing and cycling trails around the wetlands of Murray River National Park.
