Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay

138 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents10 acres · Hervey Bay, QLD
If you like your beach holidays packed with coastal charm, Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay has a camping, caravan, or cabin site calling your name. Located alongside the Torquay Lakes, with Torquay Beach just a short stroll away, water sports, swimming, and fishing are what your holiday agenda is soon to be all about. In fact, most of the action happens on the water in these parts. Every winter you’ll share the region with the 8000 or so humpback whales who migrate north to the warmer waters of Hervey Bay to have their young – and they put on an aerial performance you can even see from the coastline to mark their arrival. From Ingenia Holidays Hervey Bay, you’ll also be at the jumping-off point to explore the World Heritage-listed Fraser Island, even if only for a day. Onsite, an array of park facilities makes things comfortable for the young and young at heart – a kid’s playground, games room, and resort-style pool to name a few.

Cathedrals on Fraser

109 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents24 acres · Fraser Island, QLD
Our campground is fully dingo-fenced, so you can relax and enjoy a true Fraser Island camping experience knowing the kids are safe. Unlike beach camping, you can enjoy a campfire in our designated fire rings (or you’re welcome to bring your own firepit – provided it captures its own coals). You will need a 4WD to get to Cathedrals on Fraser. If you don’t have one, you can always hire from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach. We offer a wide variety of on-site services and facilities including a well-stocked general store with hot food and freshly ground coffee, a fuel station, hot showers, laundry facilities, and much more! We also offer a variety of accommodation options to suit any budget, including cabins, permanent tents, and powered or unpowered campsites. Centrally located on Fraser Island’s east coast, Cathedrals on Fraser is the perfect destination for a relaxing getaway or an action-packed holiday. From the campground, you’re only a short walk to the beach with some of the Island’s best fishing spots and picturesque colored sand dunes. You’re also just a short drive from the Island’s most popular tourist attractions including Eli Creek, the Maheno shipwreck, and Champagne Pools. If you prefer a more relaxing getaway, the campground offers a peaceful sanctuary, allowing you to kick back and read a book or watch the wildlife – particularly the cheeky goannas and kookaburras. With 116 species of birds recorded on the property, including the elusive Black-breasted Buttonquail, as well as native orchids and a vast array of fungi, Cathedrals on Fraser is a nature-lovers paradise! If you feel like stretching your legs, we also have private access to the Corrigin Sand Blow. Cathedrals on Fraser is family-owned and run and provides all the essentials for a great Island camping experience! So gather your family, round up your friends, and make Cathedrals on Fraser the home base for your next Fraser Island getaway! Safe Driving on Fraser Island: Aim to travel two hours either side of low tide wherever possible. Ensure you are not driving on the beach two hours either side of high tide. It is recommended that you reduce tyre pressure before you get to Fraser Island. This is even more important if you are towing (don’t forget to reduce your trailer/caravan tyre pressures too!) If you are an inexperienced driver or towing a trailer or caravan, we recommend taking the Mantaray barge out of Rainbow Beach to avoid the need to take an inland track. Generally, the eastern beach route will be a smoother journey. During dry weather the sand at Inskip Point can become very soft and vehicles can easily get bogged getting on and off the barge. Tides and maps: Check the tides for your day of arrival and departure and book your barge accordingly. Be sure to allow enough time to make it up the beach during low tide, as Cathedrals is inaccessible from the beach during high tide. As a general rule, make sure you are off the beach two hours either side of the high tide. Permits: Cathedrals on Fraser is a privately-owned campground, which means you are not required to have a QPWS camping permit. However, all vehicles entering Fraser Island are required to have a vehicle access permit before arriving. You can get your permit online at the Queensland National Parks Booking Service. You will need a 4WD to get to Cathedrals on Fraser. If you don’t have one, you can always hire from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.

RUSTIC RETREAT

7 sites · RVs84 acres · Maryborough, QLD
Our property is situated on the banks of the great sandy strait just 400m from the Tuan Boat ramp with access to Fraser Island by boat or kayak. We are surrounded by State forests and wetland. There is a dam on the property for swimming and playing. 400m walk to the Tuan beach and boat ramp, exit via the main gate entrance. The forshore has a park, BBQ area and picnic tables as well as garbage disposal. There is plenty of space with-in the property and surrounding forests for mountain biking, motor-biking and walking. 3km down the road in Boonooroo you will find a large park with tennis court and public BBQ's. The bowls club and Golf Club are just 3km away. This site is suitable for caravans, RV's, camper trailers. There is no toilet facility on the property. We are VERY dog friendly and can be off lead as long as the dogs are friendly towards people and other dogs and don'y try and bite our horses which roam freely. We also have other peoples horses agisting in paddocks on the property. (Please don't feed them as their owners have requested this) You can feed our horses apples and carrots. Activities you can do include boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, crabbing, walking, stand up paddle boarding, bird watching, kangaroo spotting, playing in the parks, beach tennis, mountain biking, hiking etc. Camp sites are far from the main house and other sites so you can have camp fires and play music, use generators without worry of disturbing the neighbours. We have a tap/ hosepipe at the horse stables as you drive in on nexto the main house where you can fill up water canisters but might be easier to bring your own water. Text before hand to organise so we can show you where the fresh water tap is found. Campers will need to be self contained (rubbish and toilets) and please leave your campsite the way you found it. Don't leave toilet paper or rubbish in fire pits please. Enter / Exit the main gate by pushing the code into the key pad. (Given on booking) Gate closes after 20 seconds once it is fully open so be quick. NOTE: ***During Summer months - November, December, January and February there are midgees (sandflies) at dusk and dawn and we do recommend midgee screening or spraying the mesh on your caravan windows as the standard mozzie mesh will not keep them out. Bring coils, a fan as they hate any breeze, bug spray and long sleeved pants and tops to wear in the evenings from about 5pm-7pm. After it is dark they die down!*** ***4X4's are recommended if you don't stay along the fence line as it can get muddy if there has been lots of rain. If you stay along the fence line you will be fine as the roads are compact and hard and the camp sites along this fence are higher up, they are marked with Fire Pits so camp here if you want to stay dry and get a good breeze.*** We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet out here. If you need anything please message me on HIPCAMP messages or text or call me : 0487047270 (9am -5pm) Unless in an emergency.

Beach camping near Woodgate guide

Overview

Hidden away along the Bundaberg coast, Woodgate is the gateway to Burrum Coast National Park and a great spot for a beach getaway. Head to Woodgate Beach to swim, fish, and spot wildlife such as kangaroos, turtles, and whales, depending on the season. Drive your 4WD down the beach to Burrum Heads, go kayaking or canoeing along the Burrum River, then check out the shops and restaurants along The Esplanade. Pitch a tent at the Kinkuna and Burrum Point camping areas within the national park, or check your motorhome or campervan into a holiday park or caravan park.

Where to go

Bundaberg Region

Hemmed in by tropical fruit orchards and sugar cane plantations, the Bundaberg region is most famous for its Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Once you’ve explored the countryside, head to the beach town of Bargara to spot sea turtles along the coast or cruise out to the islands and coral reefs of the southern Great Barrier Reef. You can even camp on Lady Musgrave Island.

Fraser Coast

Across the Isis River, lively beach towns and sandy bays pepper the Fraser Coast, which stretches all the way down to Rainbow Beach. Swing by the heritage town of Maryborough, fish along the creek in Burrum Heads, and set sail on a whale-watching cruise from Hervey Bay. There’s plenty of choice for camping and glamping, including tent and caravan sites at the Cooloola camping area in Great Sandy National Park.

Fraser Island

Just south of Woodgate, Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and the star of the Great Sandy National Park. A natural paradise for outdoor adventurers, you can drive a 4WD along the beach, cool off with a swim in the Champagne Pools, and paddle around freshwater lakes in the heart of the rainforest. For the ultimate camping experience, escape the crowds at a remote bush camp in the dunes or pitch a tent right on the beach.

When to go

The beaches and wetlands of Woodgate and the Burrum Coast National Park are most popular through the summer months, and this is the best time for swimming, water sports, and turtle-watching along the coast. Don’t write off a winter visit, though. The Queensland sun shines year-round, and with average temperatures of 15–20°C, it’s the ideal time for hiking and fishing. August through October is also whale-watching season.
