Try tandem hang-gliding and paragliding and a full range of hang gliding and paragliding courses or just bring your own stand-up paddleboards and kayaks. Our lake is lovely and clean and is great to swim in. You can buy a friend or loved one a gift of a life time. Tandem hang gliding gift vouchers are very popular, as you get to take off from the property and flyover you’re campsite and then up to 2500ft. Then come and land right next to your friends and family at the Oz Sky Ranch. We pride ourselves on keeping the property lovely and clean. We are also opening our home and farm to you. So please respect it and enjoy it as we do. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate. Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots. We pride our self’s on having a lovely property and want you to have an amazing camping experience. If it is bad weather, we will recommend another site or you can change dates. Campfires are allowed at designated camp spots when fire bans aren't in place. Firewood is available to purchase . We have a no dog policy. No smoking is allowed on the property, vaping is fine at your own campsite. No glass Policy, bring cans or leave your wine bottle in your caravan or tent/car. Bring plastic glasses to drink out off. We do have a lot of rule, they are in place to give you a Beautiful environment to Camp in and To look after our Animals and farm. We accept groups however we have strict rules around this, so please discuss with us first. If you are up early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see the best in QLD barefoot water skiers training on the lake and also tandem hang gliders getting towed up from the airstrip. All campers must check in before dark and call me before entering. We look forward to your enquiry.

The Bush Clinic, Hinterland Retreat

28 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres · Flying Fox, QLD
Our sites are completely isolated from town, with views and not visible from the road. Sites are set among nearly 100 acres of a mix of open land and rainforest. Multiple natural springs exist on the property and a few small spring-fed waterholes are scattered down the cascading hills. Friendly ducks, geese, fish, horses and an abundance of native wildlife live here. This location is home to several endangered species due to being one of the last isolated pockets of rainforest in the area. Sites are part of The Bush Clinic where we specialise in designing and making natural creams, soaps, teas, dodorants and other products as well as running regular Meditation courses and topics such as Energy, Frequency, Grounding and Advanced Organic Growth techniques for those wanting to join in are formally available during your stay. We are new to HipCamp so have limited facilities at present, but they are in progress and we have loads of space per site, comfortable, and lots to offer for those wanting to reconnect with Nature. If you know what ley-lines are - this is the right place to visit ;-) PS if you are towing a van or camper pls remember to engage 4wd at the front gravel gate (low range 2nd is best). This helps avoid chewing the road up...

Lake Hagislea Farm

1 site · RV80 acres · Haigslea, QLD
Exclusive private site on our 80acre WORKING* property just off the Warrego Highway at Haigslea. *(Please note as we are 1km off the highway there is subsequent highway noise, we are immune to it, but as anything, some people may notice more than others.) We are a working small rural property so with that comes seasonal tractor work/trucks and an element of busy, depending on what projects are on the go! Real taste of rural life while being smack bang in the privacy and serenity of our buzzing property! Private gate access for self check in and checkout. The large campsite is located alongside our 14 acre dam with a pontoon and dam banks to explore. The site is flat and mowed, with easy access from the road for caravans. The dam is perfect to launch a SUP/ canoe out on, float around on floaties and spot some turtles or eels. Great to swim in/ try your luck with a fishing rod, but NO JUMPING from the pontoon as water levels vary and submerged debris/ trees etc. (common sense swimming in dam and water sources.) The pontoon is perfect for evening sunsets (or a sneaky proposal, which has happened a few times already!) ** Please be very conscious of deciding to camp with children in close proximity to an open water source. Safety is our highest priority. The recent addition of our feature windmill makes for gorgeous photos and country feels. The campsite is bordered by seasonal crops. We also have Cattle that rotate through different paddocks on the property, depending on feed and crop cycles. (Not all guests will have cattle about sorry kiddies!) **Pets welcome, but to remain under STRICT supervision. Not to chase cattle or wildlife. ** Our property is also home to the local remote controlled airplane club. Guests will be able to see them fly around of a weekend. You can watch from the campsite but we ask not to walk through the paddocks or approach the club. During weekday stays (and some weekends) you will have the pleasure to see fighter aircraft, KC-30s and the impressive C17 Globemasters doing some low flying and pass overs as we are just on the edge of the Amberley RAAF Base circuit area. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping shower, and drinking water supply. A basic long drop outhouse is set up for guest use. Fire pit and picnic table for use. Firewood able to be purchased as an extra. Please leave no trace and take all rubbish with you. An information email will be sent a few days prior to your arrival containing all your checkin and checkout information. Perfect for a place to hideaway and relax for a staycation (40 minutes from Brisbane) or a base to explore the surroundings. LOCALS GOUGE: - For families, the Ewenique hobby farm is located roughly 500m up the road. Check out their facebook page, a good activity for the kids on the weekends. - Perfect spot to explore all our little country towns from. Fernvale is only a short drive, the famous Fernvale bakery is a must. - Check out discover Ipswich for whats on or around. Many great local pubs and things to see and do! PLEASE NOTE: ** PRICING - $70.00 per night per vehicle (caravan/camper, this includes 4 people.) As it is advertised as 1 SITE FOR ONE CARAVAN/CAMPER, booking options don't include adding an extra camper or family group. We are happy to have guests camp with other friends or family (max 5 caravans/campers on site) ON REQUEST. To do this, please select the extra caravan option (under extras) when booking. Please note that it is $70 per night per camper/caravan so you will need to add the extra twice if it is for two nights (or 4 times if booking for 2 extra caravans/campers for two nights etc.) Please send me a message if you have any questions, as the booking selection options don't have the capability to reflect adding extra campers to a single booking site as of yet. * No parties or large gatherings, but happy for small friend or family groups *

Lakeside camping in North Stradbroke Island guide

Overview

Known as "Straddie" by locals and also increasingly by its Aboriginal name, Minjerribah, this popular holiday spot for Brisbane families is more than 25,000 hectares of wilderness and long beaches. The island vibe is laid-back with an emphasis on nature—think scenic gorges, bushwalking, and wildlife. The three townships—Dunwich, Amity, and Point Lookout—sit about 20 kilometres apart and are linked by sealed roads. Surfers love Point Lookout for the closest surf breaks to Brisbane, while the other side of the island is almost entirely covered by Naree Budjong Djara National Park’s sand dunes, freshwater lakes, wetlands, and heathland. Camping is available within the park, but most other island camping is managed by Minjerribah Camping, including beach camping. For remote beach camping, a 4WD vehicle is needed (along with a vehicle access permit).

Where to go

The North Gorge Headlands Walk

This walk is not to be missed, as the boardwalk offers stunning views of the gorge, and is a great place for spotting turtles, dolphins, and whales (between May and November).

Naree Budjong Djara National Park walking tracks

Six walking tracks run through the park, five of which start in the car park at Blue Lake (Kaboora), about 9 km from Dunwich. Some tracks have limited shade, so early morning walks are best, especially in summer. The most challenging track is Kabul (carpet snake), which has long steep sections. The Jarlo (fire beetle) track offers views to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and the Glass House Mountains to the north.

Brown Lake (Lake Bummiera)

Brown Lake is stained by the tannin from the leaves of surrounding tea trees and paperbarks. It is only 3.5 km from Dunwich and a great place for birdwatching and wildflowers, while waterside trails allow you to walk the lake’s perimeter.

Moreton Bay Marine Park

Snorkel or scuba dive with giant manta rays and lazy leopard sharks in Moreton Bay Marine Park on a tour with a local outfitter. At Manta Bommie, off the island’s northeast corner, these amazing creatures are unfazed by swimmers above them. The excursion might also include sightings of turtles, dolphins, and bull sharks.

When to go

North Stradbroke Island’s subtropical climate makes it a year-round destination. Summers are warm and sometimes rainy, while winters are mild. Temperatures range from 22–30°C in summer (December to February), and in winter (June to August), you can expect 12–20°C.

Know before you go

  • Bookings and camping permits are essential on North Stradbroke Island.
  • A regular passenger and car ferry service operates from Brisbane, or you can take a private water taxi. The crossing takes about 30 minutes, and ferries are met by local buses at Dunwich.
  • If travelling without camping gear, Straddie Camper Trailer & Camping Equipment Hire at Point Lookout can provide everything you need—and they’ll even set up camp for you. First-time campers can get extra instruction to feel prepared.
  • The best place to see the sensational Straddie sunsets is at Amity Point, on the northernmost tip of the island.
  • Blue Lake (Kaboora) is a place of cultural significance for the Quandamooka people and should be respected. Swimming is not allowed—instead, soak up the beauty of what is known as the "deep, silent pool."
