Camp near the gateway to Queensland’s Wet Tropics rainforest.
Just a half-hour drive south of Cairns, the small town of Goldsborough sits at the edge of the vast Wooroonooran National Park, part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics. The town itself has plenty to offer campers, whether you check into the Goldsborough campground along the Mulgrave River, which has powered sites and a dump point, or just stock up on gas and supplies before heading out into the national park. Within the park, the eponymous Goldsborough Valley is named for its gold rush heyday but is now better known for its lush lowland rainforest. Pitch a tent or bring your camper trailer to the park campground, then explore the forested hiking, mountain biking, and canoeing trails. Goldsborough also provides easy access to the wild wetlands of Gadgarra National Park and Little Mulgrave National Park, as well as the lakeside bush campsites of Danbulla National Park.
