There is also Redclaw and Cherabin so bring your Yabby pots and canoes or kayaks. Campers have access to a modern amenities block which has flushing toilets and hot showers. There is a powered camp kitchen for communal use. Big skies that are great for stargazing and abundant birdlife in a peaceful setting provide a backdrop for your next getaway. Cattle graze the property with the occasional donkey guarding the herd as we don't kill our dingoes. There is prolific bird life and 7 types of wallabies and kangaroos as well as other wildlife in several ecosystems. The property is located about 3 hours from Cairns or 1 hour from Cooktown on a sealed road. Once you turn off the highway, access is 4.5kms on a gravel road. The town of Lakeland is just 8kms away with a Hotel, Roadhouse, Coffee shop and 2 well stocked local fresh produce stalls. We are within an hour of Cooktown and Laura if you would like to do a day trip to the historic towns.

This assists in avoiding overcrowding) There is NO access to our property from Kuranda end! Visitors need to go through Mareeba A beautiful 160 acre paddock that you can enjoy. Cleared slashed areas beside the river. Enjoy a river swim to cool you down during summer and go for a cold dip during winter. River is also good for fishing during the right season. Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. Unless you have a ‘booster ’there is very limited mobile coverage or internet. {enjoy the peace and solitude} Access to the property is fourteen kilometres gravel, coming off the highway. Sites are private separated from each other, some sites suit clothing optional guests Site is 300 metres from road and provides privacy. Tents and small caravans are ideal. Not suitable for highway caravans or very large vans as the access will be too rough. There are walking areas at rear of property. Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. Checkout is generally when you feel like it. Dog friendly. Site may be closed in the wet season from December to April, once monsoonal events occur

There is a variety of bird life and wildlife. Trevethan Falls is just a short walk away. Finish the day around your open campfire. You cut or collect your wood from around the property just contact your host. The property has had changes to 3 sites which happened on December the 17th 2023 at around 6am in the Morning we were awoken to the sounds of timber and dirt hitting the house and in a matter of 2 hrs sites 1 /2 and 3 were totally destroyed and the Trevethan Creek was directed through our property, This event was a Landslide from the top of the Moutain which went through the Trevethan Falls and the trees and dirt got caught up in a bottle neck down from the falls. We already had 3 .5 Meters of rain in 4 days! the bottle neck broke out at 6 am hitting us like a freight train and the rest is a good story to tell around a fireplace. We are working hard to clean up sites 1 /2 and 3 which I can see results. Site 1 is open and is very good with water running by the site/ Site 2 is open and we are currently doing work on the new site 2 / Site 3 is currently moved until we clean up the old site. We have a new Site which is Site7 on the creek and very private and Site 4 on the dam and Sites 5 and 6 are bush camps and are very Private. We are hoping to see the tree Kangaroos coming back as well which are good viewing from Midnight on wards to 3 am. Please come and stay we have more sites planed for the future. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is also a hobby farm in operation on the property, so you may hear and see the workings of the farm as you explore. We are confident that once you discover this place, you'll return time and time again.

Yindilli Camping Ground is set amongst some of the most beautiful open eucalypt forests and rainforests of north Queensland and is located on the CREB Track, a popular 4WD tourist route. Nearby is the iconic Roaring Meg Falls. The track is not suitable for towing caravans. We are 38klms from Daintree Village on the CREB Track (also known as Upper Daintree Rd) and it will take about 2.5hrs to drive as the road is unsealed, steep in sections and narrow. Be aware of weather conditions before travelling on this road as minimal rainfall can make the track slippery. An alternative route to Yindilli Camping ground is from the northern end of the track from Bloomfield via the China Camp Rd or the Zig Zag Track - both meet up with the CREB Track. We are 27klms from Bloomfield or 1 hour to drive, this section is graded regularly and easy to traverse in the dry season.The campsites have access to a freshwater creek for swimming and relaxing. The birdlife is abundant, including the occasional glimpse of a Cassowary. Camp sites are on 2.5ha of lush green lawns, lots of shade and within metres of a fresh water creek for swimming and relaxing. Facilities include: septic toilets, showers, dry firewood (on request) and spacious sites Children and pet friendly. Guests are advised to only light fires in designated areas and these must be fully extinguished before departure.

This assists in avoiding overcrowding) There is NO access to our property from Kuranda end! Visitors need to go through Mareeba A beautiful 160 acre paddock that you can enjoy. Cleared slashed areas beside the river. Enjoy a river swim to cool you down during summer and go for a cold dip during winter. River is also good for fishing during the right season. Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. Unless you have a ‘booster ’there is very limited mobile coverage or internet. {enjoy the peace and solitude} Access to the property is fourteen kilometres gravel, coming off the highway. Sites are private separated from each other, some sites suit clothing optional guests Site is 300 metres from road and provides privacy. Tents and small caravans are ideal. Not suitable for highway caravans or very large vans as the access will be too rough. There are walking areas at rear of property. Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. The property has had changes to 3 sites which happened on December the 17th 2023 at around 6am in the Morning we were awoken to the sounds of timber and dirt hitting the house and in a matter of 2 hrs sites 1 /2 and 3 were totally destroyed and the Trevethan Creek was directed through our property, This event was a Landslide from the top of the Moutain which went through the Trevethan Falls and the trees and dirt got caught up in a bottle neck down from the falls. We already had 3 .5 Meters of rain in 4 days! the bottle neck broke out at 6 am hitting us like a freight train and the rest is a good story to tell around a fireplace. We are working hard to clean up sites 1 /2 and 3 which I can see results. Site 1 is open and is very good with water running by the site/ Site 2 is open and we are currently doing work on the new site 2 / Site 3 is currently moved until we clean up the old site. We have a new Site which is Site7 on the creek and very private and Site 4 on the dam and Sites 5 and 6 are bush camps and are very Private. We are hoping to see the tree Kangaroos coming back as well which are good viewing from Midnight on wards to 3 am. Please come and stay we have more sites planed for the future. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is also a hobby farm in operation on the property, so you may hear and see the workings of the farm as you explore. We are confident that once you discover this place, you'll return time and time again.

Yindilli Camping Ground is set amongst some of the most beautiful open eucalypt forests and rainforests of north Queensland and is located on the CREB Track, a popular 4WD tourist route. Nearby is the iconic Roaring Meg Falls. The track is not suitable for towing caravans. We are 38klms from Daintree Village on the CREB Track (also known as Upper Daintree Rd) and it will take about 2.5hrs to drive as the road is unsealed, steep in sections and narrow. Be aware of weather conditions before travelling on this road as minimal rainfall can make the track slippery. An alternative route to Yindilli Camping ground is from the northern end of the track from Bloomfield via the China Camp Rd or the Zig Zag Track - both meet up with the CREB Track. We are 27klms from Bloomfield or 1 hour to drive, this section is graded regularly and easy to traverse in the dry season.The campsites have access to a freshwater creek for swimming and relaxing. The birdlife is abundant, including the occasional glimpse of a Cassowary. Camp sites are on 2.5ha of lush green lawns, lots of shade and within metres of a fresh water creek for swimming and relaxing. Facilities include: septic toilets, showers, dry firewood (on request) and spacious sites Children and pet friendly. Guests are advised to only light fires in designated areas and these must be fully extinguished before departure.

We had great stay at Lakeland camping ground on Christmas Day. We got in late, meet joy & she was super friendly, we had the place to ourselves. The amenities were good & clean & handy camp kitchen. There dog end up staying with us at our camp set up which was super cute. Could easy of stayed few days & spent more time relaxing or fishing in the lake. Definitely would say again if out that way.

We had a wonderful stay here. Dean is an incredibly kind and welcoming host—he greeted us at the gate, showed us around the campground, and shared lots of helpful local advice. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing, and the bathrooms were spotless and well maintained. The campground has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and being able to take a refreshing dip in the creek was a real highlight. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-run camping experience.

Great property, with amazing views from the spot we camped at, being Valley views. Enjoyed the scenic walk to the waterfall and enjoyed a refreshing swim. Definitely would stay again and loved how the Valley view camp spot, had a covered area as weren't sure if a storm would come that night and only brought the swag. Water and toilet with amazing view.

We loved this camp, we parked our van on green grass in the tropical fruit orchard. We were right nxt to the rainforest and a beautiful creek. There was also a waterfall with a big swimming hole 45 min walk. We were pleasantly surprised to find body boards and pool noodles when we got there. The walk was easy with just a few up-hill spots. The communication was good and the directions were easy to follow. Our dog loved the place too and didn't want to get in the car to leave. One of my favourite spots after doing 3 laps in 5 years. Put it on your bucket list!!

We loved our stay here. So peaceful and such a large site just to ourselves, and didn’t have to worry about the kids brothering others. The steep driveway was a bit daunting, but managed fine with AWD. Loved having the big gazebo to set up under and spread out. Had a beautiful night sky view once the clouds cleared.

Plenty of room to camp. Beautiful clean camp areas Toilets available and were in good condition. Lovely creek close to the sites. The Waterfall was a lovely walk but be parpared to walk 45 mins one way and not to get lost. They have a few arrows to guide you but towards the last bit down to the water no arrow and we got a bit lost.

Where to go

Cape Tribulation

The northern section of the Daintree National Park is a wild tangle of rainforest leading up to pristine white-sand beaches. Hike through dense rainforest, admire the views along the Jindalba and Marrja boardwalks, and look out for wildlife, including crocodiles and endangered cassowaries. Campers can get back to basics at the Noah Beach camping area, with direct access to the beach.

Mossman Gorge

Natural wonders and cultural heritage meet head-on in the southern section of the Daintree National Park. Discover the Mossman Gorge along rugged 4WD trails, hike along the Mossman River, and take a Dreamtime walk to learn about the traditional culture of the Ngadiku people. There’s no camping in this part of the park, so base yourself in Daintree village or nearby Port Douglas.

Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef

South of Daintree, Port Douglas is a popular starting point for cruises to the Great Barrier Reef. Set sail on an island-hopping cruise, stop to snorkel and scuba dive along the reefs, or even spend a night on-board. Or, take in the views from the shore with a road trip along the Great Barrier Reef Drive.

When to go

The most pleasant time to explore the Daintree National Park is during the dry season from May through September. Campsites can book up quickly at this time, so plan ahead. Prepare for extreme weather if you visit during the wet season (December through April). Daytime temperatures are often above 30°C, with high humidity and heavy showers most days. Depending on conditions, access to some parts of the park may be limited, and river cruises may not run. 

Know before you go

  • There is no public transport to Daintree Village, so you will need your own vehicle or to visit as part of a tour.
  • Daintree Village has a handful of shops, including a café, post office, and general store. For camping gear or to stock up on supplies, you’ll need to head to Port Douglas, a 45-minute drive away.
  • Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so check local regulations in advance.
