'Elouera Vale' Farm

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre where you will find all the shops, cafes and restaurants for your needs. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, one of our favourite foodie spots (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). While you're here please try the Cool Climate wines. The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention us). The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. The serene setting and stylish interior of The Gums provides all the essentials for a picturesque and peaceful country escape. Step out of the city and onto this working produce farm. Accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star but the air is fresh and the stars are a work of art. Come and enjoy the tranquillity. As a way of introduction, some basic housekeeping information about our cabin …. Firstly this is a working farm, so accommodation is rustic and basic as opposed to four star. Our bathroom facilities are an outside shower and composting toilet about a 20m walk from the cabin but the bonus is we have just had instant hot water installed and the shower is steaming hot. There is a hand basin outside the cabin with cold running water for drinking and washing. We will always leave a torch in the cabin for your use, for those late night adventures! For your convenience there is a refrigerator, microwave, kettle, drinkware, cutlery and plates. Linen and towels are provided and the fridge will be stocked with milk and cold water. There is no hot and cold running water inside the cabin however as I mentioned the hand basin outside will provide cold water for hand washing, teeth cleaning etc. Animals roam free on the property and the cabin overlooks our dam where the ducks and geese take their families to swim. As I mentioned earlier, this is a working farm and business and we do have a dam in close proximity to the cabin; this is NOT fully fenced, so please be aware that is it your sole responsibility to supervise your children at all times – animals are also freely wandering the grounds in the way of chooks, alpacas, sheep, goats, geese and dogs (we have 8 rescue dogs of all shapes and sizes), so please be aware that free range is just that, again supervision will be required. Adequate footwear for children would be an advantage as the walking tracks can be rutted after bad weather and working farm means dirt and animal poop (just to add to the fun) so obviously safety is the best prevention. We'd love to show you our little part of the world and welcome you to our home. We welcome lots of interaction with the animals and there is a big open fire that you can sit around and toast marshmallows and chat or a smaller one outside the cabin to take in the fresh air and the canvas of stars. The Six Foot Track Eco Lodge is located on the beautiful Coxs River along the historic Six Foot Track running between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves. The Eco Lodge provides accommodation for up to 28 guests across two cabins. Our Echidna cabin sleeps 12 guests and our Wombat cabin sleeps 16 guests. You can book a cabin or if you have a large group, you can book out the whole place just for you to have absolute privacy :) You will enjoy the beautiful views from the large sheltered seating area, including large wooden dining tables, benches, chairs and leather couches. Two outdoor sheltered guest kitchens are available on premises and include gas stove tops, a BBQ, cookware, cutlery, utensils, kettles, plates and cups, as well as two sinks and a wash basin. Clean, fresh rain water is supplied and is safe to drink. Rubbish bins, including recycling and composting bins are on premises. Guests have access to two communal composting toilets and a warm shower. Large campfire has a sitting area and wood supplied. Kids will enjoy the playground built from natural and recycled material. Please note. The premises are entirely off grid and solar power is limited to lights only. There are no power points available. Please bring your own esky. Whether you are staying overnight or planning a longer recreational getaway, you will not get bored here! The newly opened Bowtell's Swing Bridge is only 900 metres away, following the beautiful Six Foot Track. A private access to the Coxs River is only 150 metres away, offering ample swimming holes and opportunities to fish, Take a 2-hour leisurely walk along the Six Foot Track to the Megalong Valley for a wine tasting at the Megalong Creek Estate or Dryridge Estate (Saturday and Sunday only). ACCESS: You can drive in from Little Hartley (about 45 min drive following the Coxs River Road) or walk along the Six Foot Track, a 16-km walk from Katoomba or an 8-km walk from Megalong Valley.

Head up to the Treehouse and make yourself comfortable in the suspended ergoflex queen bed, let the breeze tussle your hair, and watch the world go by - sometimes all we need is somewhere quiet to sit and BE for a while, before heading back into the fray. The infrared sauna sits in its own building where you can look out over the garden while enjoying its wonderful health benefits. It's free to enjoy, just book your time with Bronwen when you arrive. The smallest things can be healing, like snuggling up in front of the firepit, patting a cat, reading one of our many self-help books or novels, drinking tea, just listening to the birds, or playing with a dog.
