Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. The river can range from rapidly flowing to the more usual steady flowing and is most often very clear. The river has numerous swimming spots, some with a rocky base, and some with sand. The river has its origin near Orange and is also fed into by many springs. Weandre Creek runs in the backcountry and winds into the Bell River. Our comfortable Hut is situated on an elevated spot looking down on the river with a graduated road leading down. It has everything you need for a relaxing, recharging stay in nature. The Hut can accommodate up to 4 people, however, you also have the option for up to 6 additional guests to set up swags, tents, or a camper trailer nearby. There is space next to the Hut, or for those with a 4WD, there are some lovely camping sites down by the river. We also offer sites for those looking for a self-contained camping site, in a beautiful location. We love the solitude, the endless bush walks, swimming, and being immersed in nature. We are confident you will too. We also have a lovely art gallery on the property, and for a small fee and prior arrangement, you are welcome to come and take a look. From our farm, it is 60 km to Orange with all its wineries, food festivals, and many attractions. Wellington is 40 km and boasts the Wellington Caves. Dubbo is 90 km and is a big inland city and boasts the Western Plains Zoo. We are so glad to let you know we have a new (but intentionally rustic) structure which houses a shower powered by gas and solar with gravity fed water. Showers need to be short because water supply is limited. In a separate space is a gas BBQ and sink. This is pictured in our latest photos. This building also looks down on the Bell river which looks sensational at the moment due to all the rain.

Please take all rubbish with you. Pick a camp site in the middle aisle around the sheds, bathroom block and driveway OR in any open paddock (granite pad sites on hill are their own sites). Note the ground off the driveway and parking pads can get very wet and boggy so to avoid getting bogged please try to stick to the driveway as much as possible.

We enjoyed our time in Turon gates. I like the location, by the river and close to mountains if you want to hike. We did hike during sunrise and sunset, it was great. I absolutely favour the flush toilet and hot shower, plus bins are available. Communication is great. They give clear instructions and directions before our stay. I highly recommends this place and wouldn’t mind going back.

2 nights at "Oakview" Tarana

Perfect riverside escape. Lots of flat ground to pitch your tent on banks of the Fish River at riverside camp 1. We enjoyed our second visit here, swimming in the river and relaxing in the hammock under the sheoaks. Communication from Sally was excellent, and directions to camp easy to follow . I'd recommend camping at Oakview if you want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet

Borenore field days camping ground was lovely. The powered site was fabulous for camping. Amenties were great with hot showers and plenty of toilets. We took our large dogs and they loved the surroundings. I would reckon this place for a weekend or longer stay. Also good price for what is offered.

We loved tent camping along the river bed here! The best part, it was at max capacity and we still felt like we got a great spot and weren’t on top of others. There was plenty of space to go around. It’s incredibly scenic and we also enjoyed the water hole with the tyre swing. We can’t wait to come back we just wish we lived closer

1 night at NRMA Bathurst Panorama Holiday Park

We had an unpowered site at NRMA Bathurst holiday park and it was amazing! Beautiful, clean amenities and safe lodging. There was a very cute pool with a slide and an inside community room along with cooking implements and fridges! We only stayed a night but it would be lovely for longer time lodging. We came in after hours and it was no fuss at all! Would definitely stay again

Damien and Tammie were lovely hosts. We loved our stay and would highly recommend any site on the property. We stayed at the hill and had exceptional views. Then went down to the river and had a glorious shift in temperature and winds, with a peaceful stay next to the river.

Great spot right on the river. The track down is not for the feint hearted and you need 4WD skills if towing a van, definitely makes for and awesome adventure.

Weekend Trip to Riveroak Farm

We had a lovely, peaceful stay at the Rapids site. Easy access to the site and to the river. Fire pit was a bonus. Didn’t really expect that we’d have a fire in late December, but it was cool enough to do so in the evening after our afternoon dip in the river.

This was our second stay at Watton Airstrip and it’s just as special as the first. Camping among Tammie and Damo’s rescue horses roaming freely is a real privilege. We came with a camper trailer; the rocky track to the river is manageable, just air down your tyres for the trip back uphill. Even over Christmas when fully booked, the sites felt comfortable and generously spaced apart. Daily swims in the river, watching cod jump, the resident platypus at sunset, kangaroos feeding in the grasses and even a deer … it’s truly a place that nourishes the soul.

Family of 3 in a tent for the night. $65 for an unpowered sight in a quiet corner of the park. Space allocated could probably hold 15 tents comfortably with plenty of flat space. Amenities clean and working. Putt putt for all and swim in the pool included. Would go back
