Park by the ocean or take your caravan inland for a lush stay near Nambucca Heads.
If you're taking a caravan trip between Sydney and Brisbane, Nambucca Heads makes a great stopping-off point. This laidback coastal town is situated where the Nambucca River meets the South Pacific. (In fact, the word Nambucca stems from an Aboriginal word that means "entrance to waters.") The beaches are the big draw, and beach fishing is a popular activity, particularly at South Beach, which also draws the surfer crowd. A few holiday parks also offer a mix of cabins and caravan sites right by the shore, with plenty of caravan sites on inland farm stays. While some such farm stays are little more than open fields where visitors can set up camp, some are downright lush, offering a mix of caravan and camping sites, plus creature comforts such as communal kitchens and bathrooms.
