All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. What an awesome place to have a break! Hosts are brilliant, we were taken to our super secluded site in the middle of the bush, with its own toilet 👍🏻 and fire pit! We also purchased some of their delicious resident honey. We will be back for sure!

The farm is such a quiet and peaceful place. Rikki and her family were incredibly supportive and welcoming. We were looking for some quiet time to start our camper adventure, and we couldn’t have been happier. The amenities are great and very clean, and the kids’ playground was excellent as well. We had a great stay at Thompsons Campground. Arrival was very easy, and the place is comfortable, peaceful and relaxing, perfect for switching off and enjoying nature. The bathrooms were very clean and pleasant, which we really appreciated. Rikki was very friendly and helpful, and responded to all our questions quickly and clearly. Thank you very much for the hospitality — we would happily stay again and recommend this place to others.

Weekend Trip to Hillside Camp on Bow River

We had a beautiful stay at Eagles View campsite! Directions were accurate. Dave came and met us at the gate escorting us there. He is very friendly and engaging giving us good directions and advice, but then left us alone until we said our goodbyes. The property is HUGE and full of untapped wonders. We have a 4WD vehicle and made the most of our stay wondering the property in it. It was a bit hot for hiking and then a storm front came through later and overnight which was spectacular from that high vantage point. Before the worst of the storm hit early in the morning the sky was clear enough in places to see the full moon and Orion’s Belt. Magical!💚 Highly recommended. Thanks David. We will definitely be back for a more extended stay.

The whole Hillside setup is just awesome. Large private sites with toilet facilities. The campsites are well maintained and each has it's own unique characteristics. Hidden Valley is just fantastic .... it's like being in a different world. Lot's of 4WD tracks of varying difficulty to try out. Wildlife is everywhere, and the starscape is just beautiful. Wholly recommend any of the sites here. Dave our host was very helpful ensuring we had everything we needed.

David owns a stunning, expansive property set amongst the hills, filled with caves, walking tracks, and fantastic 4WDing opportunities. The tracks are meticulously formed throughout the property, making it a pleasure to explore and enjoy. David was welcoming and helpful while still giving us plenty of space to relax and unwind. Toilets at each campsite were greatly appreciated and added to the comfort of our stay. Although we weren’t able to have a campfire during our visit, it didn’t dampen the experience, especially after seeing the devastating effects of past bushfires in the area. A truly memorable place to stay.

Staff were lovely and accommodating! Various areas to explore as well as different swimming areas, water was freezing which was amazing on a hot day! We were able to spread out away from other campers which was good! Definitely recommend taking a photo of the map in the office as we definitely got lost 😅, beautiful place a lot to do especially for kids! But owners were lovely and helped us out so much! Can’t thank them enough ! Will definitely be coming back with others!

Really spacious campsite and super clean toilet. The property is beautiful and very peaceful. David was great to deal with, easy to communicate with and incredibly helpful, especially when we were having some car trouble. We were hoping to see a wombat, and David pointed us to the best campsite for it and he was right! We were so excited to spot one. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

Dave has an amazing property. So many sites, each with a port-a-loo and fire pit. Total fire ban however when we visited in Jan'26. Pleanty of moderate 4WD tracks and bush walking trails, with tree markers so you cant get lost. The country was so dry during our stay that the creeks were dry and barely any water flowing in Bow River. Dave was a friendly host and informative about the area. Highly recommend. We'll likely revisit in the winter to experience the contrast.

We enjoyed camping at Brian and Sally’s place. Felt very relaxed nestled in amongst all of the beautiful trees. Very private and quiet area. Was handy having the pit toilet available and great to be able to take our dog along. Wish I’d packed the antihistamines as unfortunately we encountered a few ant bites and a brush with some stinging nettle!! Despite this we all had a lovely time an would recommend to other campers

Of course — here’s a more relaxed, friendly version: ⸻ We loved our stay at Dave’s place near Merriwa. There was so much to see and explore — we saw eagles, emus, heaps of kangaroos and wallabies during our stay. We really appreciated how far apart the campsites are, which gave our family plenty of privacy and made it feel super peaceful and secluded. Dave has also put a lot of thought into the little details, like providing port-a-loos and clean water for washing up and showering, which made camping really comfortable. Dave was a great host and took the time to show us around, share info about the property and answer all our questions. There are also signs and maps around to help you find your way easily. We’d happily come back and would definitely recommend staying here!

Great place for camping and pet friendly. Amazing camp-site and location. Plenty of different camp-sites to book. Hideaway Hollow was very private and plenty of space with 2 dogs running around. Definitely recommended and will be going back again.
