Known as the Sapphire City due to its abundance of gems, the historic town of Inverell is a great spot to go caravan camping in northern NSW. Close to the Queensland border, the quaint and quirky town sits on the banks of the MacIntyre River and is a great spot for caravan campers who want to soak up the local life or try their hand at gem fossicking. As well as the usual amenities like hookups, toilet access, and picnic tables, some caravan parks in Inverell even offer on-site fossicking so all campers can have a go. Most Inverell caravan parks are also within walking distance from other local attractions, like the 1841 Inverell Pioneer Village. If nature caravan camping around Invernell is more your thing, you can head to nearby Copeton Waters State Park, Kings Plains National Park, or Kwiambal National Park, and just pop into town for supplies and sightseeing.
