"Duck Downs" Snowy Mountains

6 sites · RVs, Tents150 acres · Dalgety, NSW
Rolling hills, Quite still. Few trees, Much to see. Many granite rocks, Like sheep in flocks. Natural sounds, At ‘Duck Downs’. T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometers from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. We are located 30 minutes drive south east of Jindabyne and 40 minutes drive south west of Cooma. There is a flush toilet and fresh drinking water is available at our dispersed sites. Caravans can easily be filled up via garden hose and if you are staying on one of the remote sites this can be done easily prior to settling in. We have a mowed loop track giving easy access from each site to stroll to the top of the hill, walk the dog or enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner Phillip, our son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi, Myonie the Moodle and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's our peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. Well that's just a sample of some of the things you can do but if all that sounds like too much, just put your feet up and have a rest at your campsite!! P.S. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. Telstra 4G coverage on the property, limited Optus coverage.

Sapphire Coast Dairy-Homestead

5 sites · RVs, Tents929 acres · Greendale, NSW
376 hectare operating dairy farm next to Biamanga National Park with access via secret 4WD track to the mountain and 22km to Brogo Dam for bass fishing. 16.5 kms to shopping centre of Bega. & 34 km to Tathra beach. The property has eucalyptus forest, rainforest gullies, fresh mountain water and abundant wildlife include bellbirds and lyrebirds. The campsite is at the original 1908 selection block by the late John Pearce (one of the first settlers in the area) and has extensive views. in dry weather you can get here in 2WD towing a small camper trailer. There is a steep hairpin bend so I do not recommend caravans with 2WD vehicles (4WD vehicle and caravan could handle this). If you have queries regarding access check photos in gallery or please ask me. Flushing toilet on site. Dogs permitted. Good telephone and internet reception. Ideal for flying your new drone.

Large open paddock with easy access from Monaro Highway, great for camping with amazing views of the mountains. The access road is dirt road. Ok for caravans. Dog friendly (must be well behaved around our animals and not chase them). We have Alpacas in our camping paddocks so your dog must be kept under control at all times. We have a composting toilet available for campers to use. Mobile phone reception in the area is around 3-4 bars 4G on Optus and 3-4 bars 3G on Telstra. Please bring your own wood for camp fires or you can purchase a barrow of bush wood from us in the extras. We prefer you not to collect your own wood (other than starter sticks/branches) as we are trying to maintain logs, branches, ground cover on the ground for native birds, lizards, etc. Private outdoor yoga sessions are available if booked in advance or you can book into the local classes on Thursday nights. All camp fees are being used to rehabilitate our property with plants that are native to our area and restore the land.

Harros Hill, Jindabyne

10 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Jindabyne, NSW
We have 40 beautiful acres on The Snowy River Way in Jindabyne with several large, private sites on offer. Our property is on a beautiful hill with a dam midway up if you’re looking for a nice walk. Do a loop around the property for spectacular views. The sites at the bottom of the property closest to the road have easy access and more protection in windy weather, but if you have a 4WD and are wanting to sit and enjoy the 360 degree rural views then head up the hill. All of the sites are large and private from one another and from our house and neighbours. Groups are welcome to have their own spot together and each site has a fire pit in place. We can supply firewood, kindling and fire starters for a small fee or you can BYO. Strictly no foraging for wood from the property please. There’s also no power hookups, taps or toilets.... so it's fully self-sufficient camping. We are only 10 minutes from Lake Jindabyne – turn left to head up to the mountains (a further 30 minutes to Thredbo or Perisher) or right to explore Jindabyne township and its boutiques, breweries, cafes and cinema. Stop in at The Station Resort on the way back from the mountains, just five minutes away for a nice feed and game of pool (during winter). Come and enjoy the beautiful outlook and natural wildlife. Rest and recuperate in peace and privacy or get out and about to enjoy all that the Snowy Mountains has to offer. Whether you’re interested in snow sports, water sports, biking, hiking, yoga or reading – adventure and relaxation awaits!

Jacarry Rocks

4 sites · RVs50 acres · Jindabyne, NSW
Nestled on the gentle, rolling hills of The Snowy River Way, tucked away from the road, and only a short drive from town, it feels miles from anywhere. Our place is set amongst an abundance of beautiful, old Candlebark trees, granite boulders, native grasses and shrubs. The trees with their sculptural trunks and hollows provide homes and nests for many native birds and eagles. Our property has 500m of Mowamba River frontage where platypus and trout abound. Kangaroos, wallabies and fallow deer wander down at dusk to nibble on the grasses and sheep can be seen grazing on the hillside of a neighbouring farm. Guests are able to enjoy glorious sunrises and sunsets, from an elevated, yet private position taking in the natural beauty. A perfect base for your skiing/ snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing or hiking holiday! The Station Resort is just down the road if you need a good value pub meal and entertainment (snow season only) or Jindabyne town is a 7 minute drive. * Important. Please note our sites are for caravans and motorhomes only. This is non-negotiable. No sub-letting allowed. We do not cater for tents, camper trailers, swags or sleeping pods! Your caravan or motorhome must have it's own toilet. Thank you *

Hicklam Grange

4 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · Bega, NSW
Hicklam Grange camp is located on 25 acres surrounded by farmland which once formed part of the historic Kameruka Estate. The quiet town of Candelo is a simple 10 minute drive away where there is a pub, cafe, general store, petrol station, homewares store and markets which are held on the first Sunday of every month from 8.30am. If beach side is what you are after both Merimbula and Tathra are approximately 30 minutes away, or a 25 minute drive will take you to Bega, home of the famous Bega Cheese factory. Upon entering Hicklam Grange, you will drive past the main house and continue to the end of the property to the camp hut and unpowered sites. You will notice some chook pens along the way, and if they have been kind, farm fresh eggs may be purchased along with some local home made jams, pickles and relish. Hicklam Grange Camp offers an undercover area with a kitchen, shower, and toilet. The kitchen has a bbq, cooking utensils, and crockery for use. There is no fridge/freezer available. The hut has doors which can be closed to make use of the indoor fireplace and protection from wind if need be. The water used on site is the same as the main house, and has been collected from the creek that borders the property. Guests can gain access to the creek via a gate at the base of the camp kitchen grounds and a short walk along a mown track. Water from the taps may be used for washing up but should be boiled before use when cooking or making tea and coffee. It is recommended to bring your own drinking water. The campsite provides several cleared areas that are first in best dressed; whether it be near the camp kitchen and amenities, next to existing fire pits, or a little further away for some extra privacy. Camping is not permitted within the fenced area where the camp kitchen and amenities are located. Small campfires are permitted in designated areas, when restrictions aren't in place and a communal fire pit is also available in front of the hut. Firewood may be collected around the property, or alternatively is available for purchase under Extras. A large bonfire has been set up on site, but is not to be used as this is set for a yearly family event on the property. Many farm animals are on the property such as sheep, goats, chooks, ducks, geese, dogs, and cats. Dogs are welcome but must stay within the camp, be under control or on a leash as the property is also home to wildlife such as rabbits, wombats, echidna, possums and native bees. All vehicle types can access the property, and is suitable for Tents, Campers, and Vans with good access for 2WD and caravans.
