Description
Come visit the high elevation station at Frog Meadow Campground, offering a fews sites and a cabin. The cabin sleeps ten and has a very rustic vibe with no electricity. However, all other amenities are available. By morning or evening watch the cattle and deer graze outside among the overhanging pines and firs. Keep busy on the trails in the daytime by hiking and biking and by nightfall make sure to look up! Wander off and check out the nearby lookout tower at Tobias Peak at 8300 feet and you can see views of the highest mountain in the contiguous U.S.!

I won't say you *need* 4WD to get here as we did make it in a Civic coupe, but boy was it hair-raising. Worth the price, though, since we had the place totally to ourselves. Cooking gets kind of weird at this altitude but it didn't get as cold as I'd expected (in late June.) Pristine. I'd go back in a heartbeat...with a car I didn't care about.
