Beautiful Coastal farmland near to Mimosa Rocks National Parks. Easy to access. Close to stunning townships of Bermagui just 15mins north and Tathra 30mins south. Observe an abundance of wildlife - spot an eagle, kangaroo, wallaby, possum, goanna, wombat or whale! Surf or swim any of the amazing beaches or lagoons -Bunga, Hidden Valley, Arraganuu, Bithry, Cuttagee, Camel Rock, Horseshoe Bay or Blue Pool. Walk the dog at Beares beach in Bermagui or Cuttagee beach, 10mins drive north. This is an incredible coastline to explore. Enjoy local fresh produce from Bermagui farmers market in summer on Thursday afternoons; Saturday market at Honorbread courtyard; fresh seafood either catch yourself or purchase from Bermagui Fishermans Wharf. There is a little shed on this patch of land and campers have access to an undercover area off the side of the shed plus half of the inside area of the shed not being used for storage. There is a rainwater tank at the back of the shed. A nice, new compost toilet faces into the bush, we no longer use the one at the back of the shed. To locate when heading south on Tathra -Bermagui Rd , Turn left into Hergenhans Rd which is approx 14km south of Bermagui, then left into Wrens Rd (Goalen N Rd on google maps) , follow Wrens Rd about 800m and you'll see a gateway on your right with Hipcamp sign (Bunga Summit). It is opposite gateway on left with Lot 3 sign. The next gate is padlocked where the shed is. To access Bunga Beach, continue along Wrens Rd through neighbouring properties. The road has recently been resurfaced so is now accessible with 2WD. This is National Park so you can't have dogs here. To access Back Bunga Beach continue along Hergenhans Rd and left onto O'sheas Rd which is also a good accessible road. taking you through neighbouring properties and ending at Mimosa Rocks National Park. This is an amazing walk from the carpark south along the beach to Hidden Valley. For dog walking beaches head to Cuttagee just 10mins north towards Bermagui, or Beares Beach in Bermagui. For injured wildlife or any wombats with mange around the campsite please phone my neighbour Sara as she volunteers for Wildlife Rescue South Coast. Both sites have access to fresh water and are suitable for caravans as well as tents. We are not and never will be a 'caravan park' - your group will have exclusive use of the campsite. Each are far from each other, both are right near to - or very close to - the river. Our guests love the tranquility and not having to share! Fish the river for flathead or bream and enjoy it for dinner by the campfire. Bring your kayak or SUP or just enjoy a swim in the clear sandy-bottom river. Once your booking request has been confirmed, let us know if you need more specific directions so you can find us easily. Well behaved (spoilt) dogs okay but please no hunting type dogs. Both sites have access to separate taps for fresh drinking water. Firewood can be collected from the property or supplied at a small fee (you can book this when you book your site). The Property is situated on the pristine Wallagaraugh river near the Victorian and New South Wales border, 8km down an all weather dirt road has some bumpy sections, accessible for caravaners and boaters and is approximately 45 km from Eden and 40 km from Mallacoota by car, very isolated but has limited phone and internet reception, 15 minutes down river Gypsy Point, another 20 minutes your at Mallacoota on the coast if you need fuel, supplies, etc, 5 to 10 minutes up river the bullring , proceeding with caution you will go through a temperate rainforest and end up at the rock wall with small waterfalls and fresh water pools. A haven for many species of birds and wildlife, sea and wedge tail eagles nesting close by a bird watchers and canoeists paradise, also many species of fish so if you want to wet a line a Victorian fishing licence is needed, the river has a 5 knot speed limit from the campsite to Gypsy Point, if your more into bushwalking or sightseeing there are several national parks within a 30 minute drive or boat trip, or just have a swim, chill, relax and enjoy the peace and serenity. one site has small tinny access to the river and the other is good for a 20 ft boat, can accommodate up to 15 at one site and 12 at the other, camping and fires are only allowed in designated camping areas due to rehabilitation of river frontage and flash flooding, at both sites you cannot camp or have fires in fenced off river frontage, bring your own firewood or it can be supplied for $25 per wheelbarrow when booking in, you will have to provide your own camp toilet, shower, etc and take all waste away when you leave, I can arrange if needed by prior notice, bulk firewood, launching of boat, etc. No firewood collection, motorbike riding, shooting or 4x4ing on site, some pets on leash may be allowed by prior arrangement, if having trouble booking or any other inquiries please send message cheers John.

Walk the dog at Beares beach in Bermagui or Cuttagee beach, 10mins drive north. This is an incredible coastline to explore. Enjoy local fresh produce from Bermagui farmers market in summer on Thursday afternoons; Saturday market at Honorbread courtyard; fresh seafood either catch yourself or purchase from Bermagui Fishermans Wharf. There is a little shed on this patch of land and campers have access to an undercover area off the side of the shed plus half of the inside area of the shed not being used for storage. There is a rainwater tank at the back of the shed. A nice, new compost toilet faces into the bush, we no longer use the one at the back of the shed. To locate when heading south on Tathra -Bermagui Rd , Turn left into Hergenhans Rd which is approx 14km south of Bermagui, then left into Wrens Rd (Goalen N Rd on google maps) , follow Wrens Rd about 800m and you'll see a gateway on your right with Hipcamp sign (Bunga Summit). It is opposite gateway on left with Lot 3 sign. The next gate is padlocked where the shed is. To access Bunga Beach, continue along Wrens Rd through neighbouring properties. The road has recently been resurfaced so is now accessible with 2WD. This is National Park so you can't have dogs here. To access Back Bunga Beach continue along Hergenhans Rd and left onto O'sheas Rd which is also a good accessible road. taking you through neighbouring properties and ending at Mimosa Rocks National Park. This is an amazing walk from the carpark south along the beach to Hidden Valley. For dog walking beaches head to Cuttagee just 10mins north towards Bermagui, or Beares Beach in Bermagui. For injured wildlife or any wombats with mange around the campsite please phone my neighbour Sara as she volunteers for Wildlife Rescue South Coast. A haven for many species of birds and wildlife, sea and wedge tail eagles nesting close by a bird watchers and canoeists paradise, also many species of fish so if you want to wet a line a Victorian fishing licence is needed, the river has a 5 knot speed limit from the campsite to Gypsy Point, if your more into bushwalking or sightseeing there are several national parks within a 30 minute drive or boat trip, or just have a swim, chill, relax and enjoy the peace and serenity. one site has small tinny access to the river and the other is good for a 20 ft boat, can accommodate up to 15 at one site and 12 at the other, camping and fires are only allowed in designated camping areas due to rehabilitation of river frontage and flash flooding, at both sites you cannot camp or have fires in fenced off river frontage, bring your own firewood or it can be supplied for $25 per wheelbarrow when booking in, you will have to provide your own camp toilet, shower, etc and take all waste away when you leave, I can arrange if needed by prior notice, bulk firewood, launching of boat, etc. No firewood collection, motorbike riding, shooting or 4x4ing on site, some pets on leash may be allowed by prior arrangement, if having trouble booking or any other inquiries please send message cheers John.

We grow herbs and vegetables, tend a small collection of fruit trees, and are excited to plant many more. We’ve fallen in love with farm life and hope our property becomes a place of learning, enjoyment, and shared experiences. So Good Farm is located 25 minutes west of Pambula Beach on the Sapphire Coast. Surrounded by trees and rich with wildlife, the property features a creek running through it and a spring-fed dam. There are plenty of walking tracks across the hilly landscape, offering stunning views from various points—especially from the peak, for those willing to take on the climb. The property also borders a national park. The nearest town is just five minutes away, where you’ll find food supplies and fuel.

The Bottom Paddock is located within a short drive from pristine uncrowded beaches, National Parks and the coastal holiday towns of Bermagui and Tathra on the far south coast of NSW. Grocery and supply stores are all within easy reach. This is a quiet tranquil camping experience. If you’re planning a more lively getaway, The Bottom Paddock might not be the right fit for you. The property is almost entirely forested with an array of vegetation community types including wetlands, riparian, coastal rainforest, open spotted gum forest and coastal scrub. We welcome you to immerse yourself in the varied terrain by foot or bike. You can explore the hillside and ridges, or have a gentle meander and swim down by the river. The property has two listings to choose from, paddock sites and a bell tent site, which are nestled beside the waters of the Murrah River underneath beautiful old mother She Oaks. Each campsite has its own fire pit, grill and hotplate. Let us know if you need to borrow a skillet or camp oven. Firewood is also available if required. The Bottom Paddock is an evolving property with strong roots in community sufficiency, environmental and regenerative initiatives.

Out family of 4 loved our caravan stay at Wombat Flat. We enjoyed floating in the tidal river, fishing, and plenty of space to play classic catches. It was beautifully secluded, while only 15 mins back to the highway and 20 to the main Narooma MTB trail head. The drive in was pretty steep in sections but we managed okay with a 9m caravan. Thanks to our wonderful and friendly hosts!

We really enjoyed our stay at Siam Sanctuary. We loved “Delilah” the retro caravan and were grateful for the fresh water and gas stove. After a couple of weeks of rough camping Delilah was a real treat. The camp is so peaceful and has very relaxed vibes. The giant swing is a lot of fun for all ages and we enjoyed exploring the creek track in the evenings. It is a perfect location to get to Camel Rock for a surf, into Bermagui for lunch, explore the cute galleries at Cobargo and nip to Mystery Bay for an evening dip. I would definitely recommend a stay here and will definitely come back again. Thank you!

We stayed at site 2. It's lovely! Camp kitchen beautifully set up. Shanti and Sol were great hosts. The best thing is that there is a stone labyrinth that you can walk. So good.

We stayed in Glennbrooke River for two nights and had an amazing time😊. The place was very quiet, private, and perfect for relaxing after the busy Christmas period. We loved waking up to the river view and enjoyed swimming and walking along the river, especially when it was shallow. The fireplace🔥 made the stay extra cosy, even with a little rain. We travelled with our dogs 🐾🐾and felt very welcome. Brooke was a wonderful host — friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with🌹. Highly recommended!

Glenbrooke Hipcamp by the river is an excellent spot. We are a big family group and we loved all being together and right by the river. The site is flat, the river is tidal and absolutely great to swim in, clean and so gently flowing. Brooke and Glen are excellent hosts and communicated with us before, during and after our stay. Highway Hideaway is a well looked after Dog friendly property just on the outskirts of Narooma. Billy met us upon arrival to the Campground and was Friendly and welcoming. Sites are flat and spacious, with plenty of shade. Great Base Camp for exploring the Coast. We highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We had a lovely stay at Glennbrooke River Camp. It’s a quiet, laid-back spot right by the river, with plenty of space and a really peaceful feel. We spent our time swimming in the river and relaxing. It’s simple, well looked after, and a great place to switch off and unwind. Also loved that it wasn’t packed with other campers, it really felt like we were alone which was magic!

The best camping near Merimbula guide

When to go

The best time to hit the beaches of the Merimbula region is between the warmer months of October and April, though crisp winter days are also ideal for bushwalks and cosying up beside a campfire in the evenings. Visit in March to gorge on local produce at the Merimbula Eat Festival, or in late October or early November to catch the Eden Whale Festival in Eden. 

Know before you go

  • Merimbula is just under a six hours’ drive south of Sydney, and about three hours southeast of Canberra, with bus services available. Merimbula also has a small airport with flights from Sydney.
  • Oysters are available year-round on the NSW south coast. Sydney Rock oysters are usually at their peak during the warmer months, Pacific oysters can be enjoyed throughout the year, and Angasi oysters are best in winter.
  • Checking up-to-date rules before starting a campfire is particularly important on the NSW south coast.
