Find lakeside camping on a peninsula between dunes and the South Australian coast.
Little Narrung is sandwiched between Lake Albert, Lake Alexandrina, and the Younghusband Peninsula, south of Adelaide. Camping is the ideal way to explore this area, where there are few large settlements. The population is tiny and predominantly Indigenous Australian. Narrung offers caravan-friendly free-camping spots, while nearby Meningie has more formal options for campers. A free vehicle ferry shuttles passengers from Narrung to Poltalloch and the Point Malcolm Lighthouse over the Albert Narrows, a journey of just a couple of minutes. It saves a long drive around the Younghusband Peninsula. The nearby Coorong National Park is home to dunes and a long shore lagoon that’s a must-visit spot for keen birdwatchers. Camping is permitted in parts of the park, and visitors with four-wheel-drive vehicles can drive along the beach to areas that are inaccessible any other way.
