If you’re searching for stunning water and mountain views, look no further!
Savage River Campground is surrounded by forest, offering shade and privacy for campers. A short walk down an old gravel road leads to a clearing with beautiful views of Savage River. On a clear day, visitors can see the imposing Mount McKinley in the distance. Pretty cool.

I camped at Savage River Campground in late July of 2022 in my Toyota Tacoma outfitted with a Go Fast Camper. This was my second night in Denali National Park, having camped at Riley Creek Campground the night prior.
Savage River Campground is located near the western most point most personal passenger vehicles may travel along Park Road. (Traveling deeper into Denali National Park requires catching the shuttle school busses operated by a third party contractor)
The campground is in sparsely wooded area compared to the dense forest surrounding Riley Campground. Great jumping off point for easy hiking and spectacular views of Mount Denali (If you're lucky and visit on of the ~70 days per year where the mountain is not shrouded in clouds — I found myself to be so lucky and experienced unusually crystal clear skies)
