Seaside Farm

18 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents30 acres · Homer, AK
Seaside Farm is a 30 acre, magical, park like farm on the shores of Kachemak Bay, just outside of Homer. A song bird sanctuary, with trails, lawns, gardens, trees, hay fields, and a private beach, cabins, a clover camping meadow, and It is part of an original Alaska pioneer homestead from the 1940's. Although its an organic farm, with its hay fields, pastures and raspberry patch. its primarily the home of hundreds of songbirds, mama moose and her baby, coyotes, flocks of sandhill cranes, two sweet Morgan Horses, an assortment of chickens and two happy cows. I love sharing my farm with travelers, visitors and folks seeking peace, who love nature and outdoor living, and who enjoy getting close to nature, in a real Alaska, original, non touristy setting. This property has three different types accommodations: Rustic, cozy cabins (no indoor running water), a big field for tent campers only, and a few spaces reserved for 4 wheel drive vans , and similar small vehicle camping, including rooftop tents and occasionally a small pop up trailer. There is limited parking and turnaround space, and we like our farm peaceful and not too crowded to provide a special rural experience to all who visit this magical farm There are four cabins sprinkled throughout the property. Two are off grid, close to the beach, private and magical, with wood stoves. All cabins are able to use the main farm lodge amenities, just a few minutes walk away and have their own outhouse.. You can walk on the beach from here, there is a covered camping pavilion available to all guests, a campfire spot and bbq grill, lovely walking trails and meadows, lots of wildlife, and even wifi!

Kilcher Homestead MiracleMeadow

6 sites · Lodging, Tents5 acres · Homer, AK
A few things that make my place unique: My 5 acres is part of the famous 620-acre Kilcher Homestead, as seen on “Alaska the Last Frontier” TV show. I am the 7th of the 8 children; Atz and Otto are my brothers. There is a special feeling here vibrating in the land, and why our parents picked this spot. Full outdoor kitchen with all you need to cook and wash up; BBQ, hotplate, pure drinking water, spices, pots/pans/dishes etc. Outdoor hot shower and outhouse with great views! The atmosphere feels so pure, so silent, so wild yet comfortable. Drive-in access sometimes, or have to walk 15 minutes, and no issues with mosquitoes!!! You get to meet me and maybe other family members as you cruise around. Homer is 35 minutes away, with oodles of things to do there: great restaurants, a lap pool, fun shopping, etc. We have quite good cell reception here. Lots of options to enjoy your stay!

My mothers family also Homestead on the Kenai, in Ninilchik, she was born and grew up there in the small river village. When her and my dad married they continued the Jones family tradition of ranching and farming. We decided to offer our family land and share its beauty with others. Country Squire Farm

2 sites · Lodging, Tents2 acres · Ninilchik, AK
Hello HipCamper(s), Cole here and thank you for your interest in staying at the promising site of Country Squire Farms! I'm a former biologist and educator with current aspirations to grow food for communities and to restore our small scale food networks - Your Stay Will Definitely Help in my efforts! The sites are conveniently located within walking distance of Cook Inlet beach access and Deep Creek. Take a short drive and you could find yourself at the Ninilchik River, in the heart of the historic town of Ninilchik, or just stopped at one of the many pulloff view sites to enjoy the Alaskan wonders of the area. Ninilchik hosts incoming enthusiasts every year with so much to offer throughout the season including: -Beach access (free) -Volcano viewing (free) -Moose viewing (free) -Farmers markets (free) -Boat excursions -Bear viewing -Fishing -Rodeos -Kenai Peninsula Fair -Salmonfest music festival (Aug 2-4) -Sacred Acre music festival (Sep 6-8) Homer (~45 minute drive south) is one of the larger cities in the area. It has the CLOSEST domestic AIRPORT. Homer is a lively, faster paced, and stunning neighbor with many modern conveniences and tons of epic experiences to find near the bay. Kenai (~55 minute drive south) is another large city in the area and also has a domestic AIRPORT. Kenai along with neighboring Soldotna host lots of events including farmers markets, concerts, and live sporting events. All proceeds will be managed by Agrarian Cooperative; my personal business I formed in the summer of 2023 to create and support more private food vendors and farmers markets on the Kenai Peninsula. You could spend your money on those overpriced cookie cutter rental cabins, or rent an RV and stay in a noisy and overcrowded "campground", or ~OR~ You will enjoy the simple pleasures and solitude in a peaceful coastal town while also supporting small scale farmers and local business. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have about transportation, upcoming local events, or other questions in regards to Country Squire Farms. Or feel free to just leave a message if you're interested in supporting my efforts!

Camping near Homer guide

Overview

At the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula, Homer is an Alaskan adventure outpost that puts world-class parks, hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, and boating within arms’ reach. Birders are drawn to the area each summer to view migratory bird rookeries by boat, while the surrounding Kachemak Bay State Park and Kenai Glacier National Park offer backcountry camping and extraordinary access to glaciers, mountains, and rugged coastal Alaskan terrain. Hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking are popular summer activities, while winter features opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Where to go

Homer Surrounds

Just 25 minutes outside of Homer, the Stariski State Recreation Site has mind-blowing views of the Cook Inlet and snow-capped Aleutian Range peaks, plus a number of nearby private campsites. A bit further north, the famous king salmon runs at Deep Creek State Recreation Area attract anglers in June and July. In town, the Homer Spit is a great place to catch a water taxi to Gull Island for the chance to spot puffins and other seabirds. You can also embark from Homer on an epic birding trip to Kodiak via a ferry route that traverses the Barren Islands and parts of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.

Kachemak Bay State Park and State Wilderness Park

Across the water from Homer (and accessible via water taxi), the Kachemak Bay State Park and State Wilderness Park provide superb wilderness access, including over 80 miles of hiking trails covering mountains, glaciers, forests, coastlines, and lakes. Visitors may spot seabirds; marine mammals such as whales, otters, or sea lions; and land animals like moose, bears, and mountain goats.

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

This wildlife refuge protects much of the central Kenai Peninsula, and Homer is near the Skilak Lake and Kenai River sections of the refuge. This area is home to numerous rafting, canoeing, and hiking opportunities, all within striking distance of Homer campsites and RV parks.

Kenai Fjords National Park

Although Homer appears close to Kenai Fjords National Park on a map, the primary point of entry to this park is through Seward, which is roughly a 3.5-hour drive from Homer. If you can make it to Seward, this area is home to various ferries and charter boats that can take you into the park’s fjords and waterways. There is also hiking access to the park’s Exit Glacier Area just outside of Seward.

When to go

Alaska’s summers have long days, great weather, mosquito pressure, and lots of campers, so plan your activities accordingly. Peak birding and fish run seasons are roughly from May to September. Winters are frigid and dark, but travelers may be rewarded with snowsports and a glimpse of the northern lights.
