San Diego Mountain Lodge is a beautiful escape to nature sprawled out over 40 acres of land on Hideout Mountain, a breathtaking spot in Santa Ysabel, CA. With a combination of offerings ranging from glamping in our vintage camper trailers, RV sites with full hookups, and campsites, to a luxury experience in our remodeled cabins each with a fireplace. Gather and share ideas with fellow guests at our community firepit and picnic tables. What makes Hideout Mountain a magical place? The stunning views of Lake Henshaw and the valley and surrounding mountains, stretching as far as the eye can see. We also have a one-of-a-kind restaurant and bar on the property, Josie's Hideout Saloon. We are located just a few minutes drive away from downtown Santa Ysabel and Julian, with easy access off Hwy 76.

The Real Teal -VCT#1 - Pet Free
Great for Our Family and Young Kids
Was super easy to book, very responsive with questions ahead of the actual trip, and sorta feel they undersold the amenities/supplies available at the camper (we clearly overpacked, not expecting so many basics being available). It’s certainly tucked away, which is what we wanted for our family. Short drive to fishing, downtown Julian and misc day excursions. Last night had a loud neighbor down the valley, but that is certainly not the hosts fault, and it was a holiday weekend so it’s a gamble. Worth noting that we have a special needs child, and I felt perfectly comfortable giving him some freedom and also having pretty clear site lines. Plus being able to sleep with him in a camper while dad/other kid slept in a tent outside was really helpful for extra-special needs-mom-anxiety.

Old campsite - no longer in service
Property and facility is clean and well kept up . We enjoyed our time there relaxing. There is a popular saloon , ( good food and many motorcycles) with live music on the corner which might attract or discourage some from staying at the location

RV Campsite #15 - Scenic Sanctuary
CAMPING WITH A 16FT AIRSTREAM
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS of lake henshaw and the surrounding land and mountains. This is our second time camping here but first time bringing a 16ft travel trailer. The first time we stayed in a cabin on the same hill and they have ugraded almost everything since last year. There is a bathroom and sink out by cabin #14 which was super clean. The road up has been groomed and easy to drive on. What we loved: Camp host Bobby was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The space has turf for the kids to play on and if you wonder lower there is a nice flat space for the kids to play. The views were amazing at this site. Felt like we were above the clouds (wake up early to get the best morning sunlight views). Bringing a 16ft Travel Trailer: We rented a 16ft airstream travel trailer and this made camping with two kids very convenient. Water and electricity hookups were easy to use. Now, the campsites are just big enough for your car, the benches for hanging out, and your 16ft trailer. This will really test your driving skills when parking the trailer AND driving out. We had to go into campsite #16 which wasn't occupied and has more space to maneuver your trailer out. It was one of those 20 point turns to get out haha. We were able to manage it but it can be nerve racking with the hill drop off. It's very doable but if site #16 was occupied, I would have moved the benches from our site to try to get out. Overall a great experience and we'll be back :)

# 13 - The Raven (Tiny Home)
Tiny house with an attitude!!
Although it’s small, the Raven is really comfortable. The decor is a whole other vibe in itself! Lots of fun things to do based upon the interior decor. There’s a theme flowing throughout the cabin. Easy for two in terms of sleeping, and you can entertain two guest for a brief visit. Fully stocked with all of the supplies that make you feel equipped for a comfortable stay. The little kitchenette comes with dorm size refrigerator, microwave, and two burner cooktop. All of the cookware and dishes are there for your use. Every single thing is clean and up to date. (No bent, beat up pots, pans or dishes. You can see pride of ownership in this tiny cabin. A great getaway space. There’s even the little details like waffle mix, waffle iron, seasonings and spices, and water in a cute container that used for pouring into your cup for a refreshing drink on a hot day!! And…….if you don’t want to cook indoors, there the complete camping experience right outside your door! The fire ring, picnic table, and that amazing view. I could right about it, but go see it for yourself! It’s really a great space that allows you the ability to chill out and enjoy the scenery.

RV Campsite #14 - The Lake View
Still the best thing!!
The site is large and spacious. It’s close to the bathroom and has the most amazing views! I’ve stayed on site 15, which is next to this site, and it’s all a win-win in terms of view, and overall comfort. We have a travel trailer and it fits on the site, along with our Jeep Patriot, so you don’t feel cramped at all. There’s a picnic table and a fire ring for cooking. It’s outdoor camping with the benefit of a well cared for campground! Josie’s Bar is down the hill and if you decide you want a nice refreshing adult drink with your hotdog, you can get it there at a reasonable price. The service is amazing and the ambiance is “biker” with a twist of “EVERYBODY IS WELCOME VIBE!” The live bands really bring the music, and if you feel like you wanna move your feet, go ahead! The campsite has it all!
